Re: Half-bakery reaction with glider

Large projects like this are generally over my head (I can't figure out how to operate the search programs), but from what I can gather...the HBK needs a slow salvo where all of the gliders are of the same color, so that it can liberate a glider at a right-angle to the glider stream, then reconstruc...

Re: Glider Guns of large periods

The deal isn't that these guns aren't worthwhile or useful, but that it's very simple to use a 2-state machine to thin out a known gun. The p512 in the gun collection is "trivial" as well (it just points two p256s at each other in a standard way), but Herik's is smaller. It doesn't appear on the lis...

Re: Glider Guns of large periods

For the o(1) problem, you could replace all that p30 technology with Snarks and stable Herschel conduits, but I think that's sort of a dead end if you want to improve the O notation. When using the time it takes for a glider to move between components as a way of padding out the period, it takes up ...

Re: Thread For Your Useless Discoveries

Mats, that 5x5 is excellent. Not sure this belongs here, but, why not. This...junkyard...applies a LWSS to the side of a HWSS, activated by the same HWSS's flyby. Re: Thread For Your Accidental Discoveries

R + Beehive + blinker = HWSS + B + TL. I'm sure one could make a HWSS gun out of it with Herschel circuits (I put a subconduit and a snark above the reaction to output a Herschel and delete the TL), but I don't know how to work with Herschels, so this is just a curiosity. Unfortunately, the reaction...
