Patterns with unusual growth rates

A thread for patterns that don't fit under the replicators, polynomial growths or logarithmic growths threads. Two replicator-esque sawtooths: Linear x = 11, y = 11, rule = B2ce3y4e5y6c/S1c2i3ciy4ct5ey6i7e8 5bo$4bobo$5bo$5bo$bo7bo$ob2o3b2obo$bo7bo$5bo$5bo$4bobo$5bo! Quadratic x = 6, y = 5, rule = B2...

Logarithmically-growing counting patterns

An offshoot of the original "counting patterns" thread from an hour ago, this one specifically focuses on patterns that as a whole grow logarithmically as they count, as opposed to for example counting from an infinitely puffed stream of objects from a separate pattern. Examples: Base 1 What would t...

Re: Thread for your website-related questions

I'm not sure if this is a me thing, a viewer thing or a forum thing, but the rules featured in this post really don't seem to be recognised as valid despite existing in the rule namespace, and opening a viewer from another post and manually switching to such an rule makes it load for probably eterni...

Do you mean like this one by fwk? x = 26, y = 47, rule = B34kz5e7c8/S23-a4ityz5k 18b2ob2o$16b2obobob2o$17b3ob3o$18bo3bo13$2b2o$bobo$bo$2o22$18bo3bo$17b 3ob3o$16bo2bobo2bo$16b2o5b2o$15b3o5b3o$15b3o5b3o! Counting patterns

A thread for patterns which "count" in some given base and do not grow logarithmically as a result.

For logarithmic growth counting patterns see this thread: https://www.conwaylife.com/forums/viewt ... 85#p129585

Patterns with unusual polynomial growth rates

By polynomial I mean growing at a rate t^x for any x above or equal to 0. There may be a better term for non-integer growth rates. Basic examples: t^0 x = 1, y = 1, rule = B/S0 o! [[ AUTOFIT GRAPH ]] t^1 x = 1, y = 1, rule = B1e/S01e2i3i4et o! [[ AUTOFIT GRAPH ]] t^2 x = 1, y = 1, rule = B1e3a/S03i4...

Re: Thread for your website-related questions

Let me know if it screws anything up (in particular, if LifeViewer now has trouble pulling in the rule information). Can't say I've found any new bugs with LifeViewer ruletable loading that can be traced to this so far. There does seem to be a formatting error that arises in the box for certain rul...

Re: Partitioned Cellular Automata

A thought I had: would the HPP gas rule bundled with Golly also be considered as being under the PCA rulespace? Barring states 16 and above, it has 2^4 states corresponding to the possible binary fillings of a partitioned square cell and interacts accordingly. x = 256, y = 256, rule = HPP 256P$PBG.N...

But the letter x still shows up!
Can confirm the existence of this.

As for the concept of likes themselves, I personally support Brian Prentice's viewpoint. The current implementation at least seems mildly unprofessional although that's probably a personal thing that may be discounted.

[R]Super's default colors also differ significantly from the ones specified in Golly - specifically states 1 and 2, which were made to look as close to the Blues theme as possible for the original ruletable (whose specification carried on into Golly). I think they're the same as Golly. Just checked...

Re: Thread for your website-related questions

Would it be possible to have Rule: namespace pages not use wikitext processing such that the rule can be copied and pasted into Gllly and be fully functional without having to click the edit button?

Perhaps with a select all button much like code boxes do?

Since range 2 might be a bit too big, how about range 1.5 isotropic non-totalistic rules? RLE I don't know how many transitions this would need. Rules on this would behave like block CA (which are effectively range 0.5 isotropic non-totalistic rules) do, with the parity of the grid switching on alt...

Would it be possible to have pseudo/disconnected objects classified under a different letter than proper objects? For example, instead of xs, xp and xq, we'd have ps, pp and pq, or whatever other letter would be considered more fitting. Would make Syntheses much cleaner.
