Would anyone like to continue from here or try wildmyron's 9c/10o (OP)?
Funnily enough, I've been working on that for the last few days. Here's a really close call:

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 6, rule = B2ac3anr4aqrwz5eky6ci7c8/S12i3aejk4jknwyz5acknr6-n7c
2b2obobobobobob2o$3o2bo7bo2b3o$b4o9b4o$3o4bo3bo4b3o$3bo4b3o4bo$2bobobo
5bobobo!
ikpx2 is probably the best to look for extensions, but I've tried on wildmyron's original, and many of the partials I've got in different rules without success.
Wildmyron and I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules.

Things to work on:
- Find a (7,1)c/8 ship in a Non-totalistic rule

Hold on. If we get this right, we might be able to get high-period 9c/10 as well. That's a stable engine you've got there. Ask iNoMed, I guess?
EDIT: That engine is incredibly robust, but I can't seem to put junk behind it to stabilize it.

As I said, I tried ikpx2 on it, up to a pretty high width, and it devolves into pointless extensions. I don't think it's stabilizable in that rule, or in any that I've found. The amount of stuff it produces behind it makes it unlikely that it can be stabilized. I'm trying to find better ones.

1. Can I see one of those pointless extensions?
2. Is there any way that I can help with the 9c/10 search?
EDIT: Finding (n-1)c/n frontends is equivalent to finding diehards in W104! Look! This is exactly what the frontends of the 6c/7, 7c/8, 8c/9, and almost 9c/10 do!

I wrote random rule generators for 3-State Outer-Totalistic rules and for 2-State Isotropic Non-Totalistic rules!

I created a notation for the 3-State Isotropic Non-Totalistic rulespace and wrote a generator for it!

Very good. However, we already have a 34c/866o ship with 4 cells:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B2ikn3-cj4crt5y6in78/S2aek3ijnqr4ein5e6ekn78

How did you find these ships? I'd run searchRule-matchPatt2.py in this rulespace.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3-q4z5y/S234k5j

The latest edition of new-gliders.db.txt and oscillators.db.txt have 31531 spaceships and 1293 oscillators from outer-totalistic rules. You are invited to help!

On Github, although I think it's past due for another update on my behalf. Some scripts we use for finding spaceships are also there.

By the way, here's something I forgot to post to the forums. Including the initial spaceship (which was also a sR-mP2 result), that's about 5000 B-heptomino spaceships for the project.

I can't run searchRule-matchPatt2.py, since there is an error which doesn't know what class Exeption means.
