A collision settles at T = 10164:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 13, rule = B35ckr/S23
bo$2bo$3o8$5b2o$5bobo$6b2o!
Copies of pi-heptomino reappear at T = 284k for k = 1, 2, 3:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B35ckr/S23
3o$obo$obo!
#C [[ ZOOM 4 X 20 T 284 PAUSE 1 T 568 PAUSE 1 T 852 PAUSE 1 ]]
Edit: a few soups in first haul are classified as zz_..., but so far all of them seem to settle into a predictable combination of linear growths and p204 stationary part.

The tub just explodes in B34/S23, and so far almost everything in B34/S23 explodes.

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B34/S23
bo$obo$bo!
#C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 THEME 6 GRID GRIDMAJOR 0 SUPPRESS THUMBLAUNCH ]]
#C [[ THUMBSIZE 3 ZOOM 21 HEIGHT 400 SUPPRESS ]]
B34/S23 (and lots of B34 rules in general) are exploding, not very nearly exploding.
Yeah I noticed so too but I cannot find any explanation for this.

Well, B4w activates a lot of c/2 frontends and B4a turns a lot of rules into expanding amoebae, so it probably has something to do with that.

A much nicer example is drylife, B37/S23. It supports many small 9c/28 spaceships/rakes/puffers, along with many complex structures similar to life. However, random soups tend to explode, but very, very slowly.
DryLife explodes pretty quickly.

Natural (21,6)c/177 puffer in B37e/S238:

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 9, rule = B37e/S238
17b3o2$21bo$21bo$13bo7bo$bo2bo7bobo$o8bob2obo2b3o$bo8bo2bo$2b4o3bo!
Seems like an interesting rule. It retains B37e/S23's 11c/52 diagonal and 28c/9 orthogonal puffers. Large patterns seem to explode but very slowly, i'm not sure that they don't stabilise after some insane number of generations.

Edit: Small p10:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 5, rule = B37e/S238
bo2bo$o3bo$obo2bo$o3bo$bo2bo!
I tracked the evolution of 1×n lines, so far all of them stabilised eventually, the longest-lasting was a line of 811 which lasted 484454 generations. Maybe symmetry makes it less prone to exploding.
Running some soups with sizes in the hundreds, it seems that they explode quite reliably, but smaller soups don't.

This soup lasts 276002 generations and triggered the hypertree garbage collection in apgsearch. It registered as zz_REPLICATOR, as long-lived soups often do.

Bigger soups can last exponentially longer, but here is a ov from catagolue, notice how many objects are formed

This rule looks like it should be explosive, but it seems to always stabilize into lots of solid linear growth patterns:

Code: Select all
