DOUBLE EDIT: I think it would be worthwhile to post some more oscillators from life which can have B8 in the rotor yet survive otherwise unaffected (may do the same for B3/S238). In the meantime, here's hook with tail's p14 which has a B8 condition that otherwise doesn't change the pattern's evolution.

Thanks.

I do think it would be fun to have a B8 omniperiodicity proof for this rule (and eightlife too, if a P3 oscillator with S8 is even possible), but by no means is it a necessity and probably more of an interesting side-quest maybe for when I actually get around to downloading learning how Search programs work.

Even so, a p5 right now would solve a bunch of periods (Quick search shows have 2,3,4,8,14,16n (p16 independant reflector with Kok's galaxy support),17,25,26,30,34,62n,94n,120n, and 424n)

Thanks. It also proves that there is no loss of SL from Life to these rules, correct?

I should specify I am looking for oscillators only.

There are a few TL hasslers a few posts back which have B8 in their rotor.

EDIT: I do think some of the unique oscillators (besides those from life with simple b8 survival) deserve mentions on the wiki page (akin to those on Eightlife's page).

Sorry for the double post, but here is a new period collection for B8 rotors at the phase where B8 is invoked. With the existence of sufficient Herschel loops and other glider guns down to p56, all periods 56+ are now known to have an oscillator using B8. Again, periods missing a B8 oscillator (mentioned last post) are: 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 19-20, 22-23, 28 (guns fail), 29 (no gun), 31 (no gun), p34 (gun fails), 35 (no gun), 38-39 (no guns), 45 (all known gun engines and Pentadecathalon fail, leaving only a few glider loops and stable-support engines), 47 (no gun), 49 (gun fails), 53 (gun fails), and 55 (gun fails)

Left has all non-gun rotors, right consists of periods with working guns using the 3 dying TL sparks mentioned in my last post.

Note that most of the gun-supported reactions are not yet fully optimized by BB.
