I tried to search this one, and unfortunately it only seems to run at about 1 soup per second, and I wasn't able to finish a sufficiently large haul.

EDIT: I did, however, find this while messing around in Golly, having forgotten which rule I was on:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 7, rule = B2i38/S23-q4n8

For some reason I was unable to search b2i3-knq4tw5aq6in8s2-i3-ek4ntwz5ei6k7e on C4_4. The rule explodes on odd orthogonal symmetry, but I do not know of any other natural or semi-natural infinite growth.

EDIT: b2e3ijr4iknz8s1e2-an3-y4aiqwz5ainqy on C1 unexpectedly got stuck after a few hauls.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3-q4z5y/S234k5j

Having realized my need to reduce my screen time, I have done the number 1 thing I could to reduce the amount of time I spend on this: I will dump 219 rules from my apgsearch backlog onto this forum for anyone else to work on it. Some of them should be searched only in particular symmetries, as noted, but some of the others may be explosive on symmetry.

because it has an interesting 9c/35 and 2 puffers. The one that is not yet corderised is very common(because it evolves from the b heptomino). A corderised b-puffer might be possible and so I encourage you to find one(it might turn out to be common)

Not likely — I was quick to find a breeder — but this might still be okay.

I don't know if this is possible to apgsearch, but what about SlowLife? I want to know if there are any non-integer low-period oscillators; the only non-integer period oscillators I know of are those like the repeat time 42½ Snark loop.

If possible, set the density below 50%. The lower the density, the more parity between the two offsets. My default for Golly is 30%, but I felt like 20% was better for SlowLife. (These were much larger than 16×16, though; 30% might make more sense for a 16×16 soup.) (10% was too low even with the large soups.)

I think my apgsearch has some problem uploading soups with more than two states to catagolue.
Edit: I will try make a rule where state one will evolve into the white and green cells of SlowLife.
