The base case is a 19-tick turn-without-flip component, and adding a turn-with-flip segment adds 4 ticks to duration. What were described as "a 27-generation 90 degree turn component and a 23-generation flipping component" by Dean Hickerson are simply the second and third instance of this family. (And they didn't realize that the casing/rotor can be reduced.) Signals travel at (5,5)c/8 in a diagonal wire with repeat time 8 (not 13, which is a limitation on the 19-tick turn part).

Drifters are almost moot now. Because of the stable big glider reflector I found there are only 24 periods where the only known oscillators are drifter loops – here are those periods with their corresponding minpops:
