B2i3ai4/S23 and related

Post by Rhombic » February 22nd, 2017, 2:02 pm

...have been apgsearched and have sparked my interest, including what seem to be a failed replicator puffer, a 15c/50 spaceship, an xq28 spaceship and many high period oscillators.
A major contributor to the apgsearch so far has been Apple Bottom.
Check it here: https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b2i3ai4s23/C1

B2i3ai47/S23 is the dry version of the rule and also has many interesting patterns, one of which is a xp184 rotary oscillator.
It also has a very frequent knightship puffer:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B2i3ai47/S23

Always happy to help out searching interesting rules! :) I just wish I had your and drc's knack for identifying them myself.

The p184 is a real reflectorless rotating oscillator! As far as I know, this is the second time a true one has been found in a 2-state isotropic CA.

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 17, rule = B2i3ai47/S23
5b2o$5b2o$8b3o$8bobo$8b3o8$3o$obo$3o$4b2o$4b2o!
(EDIT: Actually the third posted on the forums. The first that I can find was this one.)

Here's a few more c/2 and c/3 ships. The c/2 as well as the asymmetric c/3 also work in B2i3ai4/S23

The diagonal c/4, Goldtiger's asymmetric c/2 and the asymmetric c/3 will have to be the first ones to turn up, surely.
