B2n3-jn/S1c23-y

Post by drc » June 22nd, 2017, 10:13 pm

This rule is seriously nifty. To start, there is a c/4 diagonal pseudo-glider (PG):

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
obo$2bo$b2o!
And the T evolves into a c/13 orthogonal spaceship, I will refer to it as the T:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
bo$obo2$3o!
Two T's are a failed replicator, producing this small p94:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 3, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
2o9b2o$3o7b3o$2o9b2o!
And a skewed failed replicator:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 4, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
2o$3o8b2o$2o8b3o$11b2o!
There is, however, a true replicator in this rule:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 3, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
bo3bo$3ob3o$bo3bo!
It replicates once at 3c/22, but then just to be a rebel it replicates again at 3c/13, giving it a total speed of 6c/35. Here's a fencepost, and a pseudo-fencepost that produces two still lifes:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 41, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
4bobo$3bo3bo22$3bo3bo$2b3ob3o$3bo3bo14$bo7bo$o9bo!
Two T->very sudden PG:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 10, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
b3o$bobo$bobo5$bo$3o$3o!
There are two T eaters, one 4-cell and one 6-cell:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 11, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
b2o2bo5bo$obo3bo3bo$7bobo5$3o4b3o2$obo4bobo$bo6bo!
And a PE eater is a beehive:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 10, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
obo$b2o$bo5$6b2o$5bo2bo$6b2o!
There are oscillators, all of which can be seen on the catagolue page, but one of note is this p57:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 10, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
o$bo$2bo$3bo$10bo$9bo$3b3o2$3bobo$4bo!
A glider can, from an arbitrary point, be sent into those two still lifes, and be stored there until it's needed.

I tried to make repguns but couldn't.

That is indeed an interesting rule, lots of construction potential there.

Here's a p280 quad-gun for the T (based on the replicator):

Code: Select all

x = 166, y = 166, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
157bo$34bo95bo27bo$33b3o93b3o26b2o$34bo95bo27bo$157bo$34bo95bo$2bo30b
3o93b3o$b3o30bo95bo$o3bo25$159bo3bo$2bo3bo151b3ob3o$b3ob3o151bo3bo$2bo
3bo93$159bo3bo$2bo3bo151b3ob3o$b3ob3o151bo3bo$2bo3bo25$161bo3bo$35bo
95bo30b3o$34b3o93b3o30bo$35bo95bo$8bo$7bo27bo95bo$6b2o26b3o93b3o$7bo
27bo95bo$8bo!
This is as compact as I could make it. I tried to make a single barrel version using fenceposts for the replicator but couldn't get the timing right. I ended up with lots of variations which look promising but then blow up:

Code: Select all

x = 148, y = 149, rule = B2n3-jn/S1c23-y
137bo9bo$138bo7bo95$140bo3bo$139b3ob3o$140bo3bo4$140bo3bo$139b3ob3o$
140bo3bo16$140bo3bo$139b3ob3o$140bo3bo4$140bo3bo$139b3ob3o$140bo3bo10$
o$bo$97bo5bo17bo5bo$96b3o3b3o15b3o3b3o$97bo5bo17bo5bo2$97bo5bo17bo5bo$
96b3o3b3o15b3o3b3o$97bo5bo17bo5bo$bo$o!
The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.
