Another idea is to use the output of the P26 factories. However, I couldn't hook up any of the sparks in MathAndCode's P26 blinker factory to another sparker, because the opposite-colored gliders always seemed to interfere with the engine through birth-blocking. It might be possible to just use the blinker to create the spark, but since chances are that 2 gliders are needed, one would have to line up with the glider stream, meaning that such a spark would needed to be inserted with very good clearance to be useful in a gun reduction. Any more ideas? :P
Could something like this work, or have you already eliminated it?

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 12, rule = B3/S23

I am tentatively considering myself back.

It might work, but not with this particular sparker. The passing gliders of the opposite color would "stick" to the figure-8.

This sort of thing is quite common in many cellular automata. These are called trivial oscillators because the rotors don't interact (unless one rotor's period is a divisor of the other's). In this case the rotors have periods 6 and 20, so the oscillator is trivial, and therefore not of any significance.

EDIT: Corrected second rotor's period. Thanks MathAndCode for catching that!

B2n3-jn/S1c23-y is an interesting rule. It has a replicator, a fake glider, an OMOS and SMOS, a wide variety of oscillators, and some signals. Also this rule is omniperiodic.

I'm pretty sure it's 6 and 20. Also, who knows? One of the rotors might be useful one day. :P

Here are some glider-accepting conduits.
G→P:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 16, rule = Symbiosis
9.A.A$9.2A$10.A11$2A$2A$.B!
Here's a variant that recovers more quickly.

180° G→G:

Code: Select all

15.A.A$15.2A$16.A8$AB$B$.A$.A4.2A$2.B.BA2.A$6.A.AB$5.B.A5.B$6.B6.A!

.AB$12.B.A$13.B!
While I was searching for conduits, I found a p23 T-nosed sparker.

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 5, rule = Symbiosis
6.2A$7.A$B.A.2A$.2A.A.2AB$3.B.2AB!
I am tentatively considering myself back.

If you want it back so badly, you may discuss it with bubblegum and goldenratio. However, I don't work on conduits anymore anyway, so it doesn't matter much.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Another edit:
Here's yet another p15 oscillator.

Overliberating it makes it a powerful p54 sparker.

Overliberating it even further results in a p7 V-sparker.
