Rules 2 transitions from Life

Let's expand the search space!

B34yz/S23 decays slightly faster and has this B-puffer:

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 40, rule = B34yz/S23

SparkLife (B36i/S234j) is in this rulespace! :) Another well-known rule in it is DryLife (B37/S23).

This is, of course, a significantly larger rulespace than the ones just 1 transition from Life, so I expect there are numerous other interesting rules in it as well.

This rule has a 2g MWSS synth, inspired by Entity Valkyrie's profile picture:

Code: Select all

B37/S23 and B3/S237 are both explosive, B37/S23 being slightly more so.

Two copies of the failedrep seed make a 28c/68 repship:

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 27, rule = B3/S23-n4w
7bo2bobo2bo$7b3o3b3o$6bo9bo4$2bo5bo5bo5bo$bobo4bo5bo4bobo$o3bo13bo3bo$

One cell further apart and you get another puffer variant:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 4, rule = B3/S23-n4w
b3o12b3o$o3bo10bo3bo$bobo12bobo$2bo14bo!

Oh, hey, that's a thing. I don't know if a gun is possible...

Here's a 2tran rule with a familiar four MWSS:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B34w/S235a
bo$b2o$obo$bo!
Sadly, it's explosive.

B3/S237e8 seems not interesting, but take way more time than Life to stable when the soup size is large enough.

EDIT: Pi-heptomino acts like a failed replicator:

Code: Select all

Very large ships don't seem to stabilize at all. I note, also, that B38/S237e has a failed pi replicator as well, but appears to be stable on the large scale:

Code: Select all

(See generations 26, 30, 146. Stabilization time is 556.)

Really? Try to run some more generation.

I've run some 100x100 soup in Golly and most of them stabilize at 100,000+ generations.

B3-r5q/S23 has, along with the glider and WSSes, a 3c/6 B-ship:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3-r5q/S23
b2o$2o$b2o$2bo!
It also has this nice natural p34 oscillator involving a honey farm and a tub:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 5, rule = B3-r5q/S23
10bo$bo7bobo$obo6bo2bo$bo7bobo$10bo!
And a natural p58 that's somewhere in between twin bees and a tumbler:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 3, rule = B3-r5q/S23
2o7b2o$o2bo3bo2bo$b3o3b3o!
EDIT: A 2c/18 diagonal:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 8, rule = B3-r5q/S23
5bo$3b2ob2o$2bob4o$bo2bo$b3o$obo$b2o$b2o!
p18 consisting of two p9s hassling a block:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 20, rule = B3-r5q/S23
o$o$o$o$o$o3$2o$2bo$2bo$2o3$o$o$o$o$o$o!
The p9s themselves resemble worker bee, but without the external stabilisation required.

B3/S234wz has a c/30 diagonal ship that evolves from the R-pentomino:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B3/S234wz
2bo$3o$bo!
Two of them can slightly interact:

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 17, rule = B3/S234wz
14b2o$13b2obo$13b2obo$15bo10$b2o$3o$o2bo$b2o!
It also has B3/S234w's 2c/7 diagonal and common p9. Unfortunately, the rule is explosive (just barely, like DryLife). One thing I've noticed from looking at the explosions' ash, though, is that shillelaghs are unusually common in this rule.

(A non-explosive rule featuring the c/30 diagonal is B3/S23-cy4wz. B3/S2-c4wz is also stable, and adds a c/14 diagonal as well as preserving the 2c/7 diagonal.)

(EDIT: B3/S23-c4wz does preserve the spaceships, but not the TL-based p9.)

I posted that c/30 diagonal in "Rules 1 transition from Life" a long time ago.

I think you must be mistaken, because the ship requires both S4w and S4z to work:
