Adding S8 or removing S4e from this rule also works, but not both since doing so adds this linear replicator.

Code: Select all

Also, both this rule and the version with S8 add a p164 oscillator and a 3c/82d not present in the original rule:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 4, rule = B3-kqy4eky5cjy6-ai8/S2-i3-ak4eiqy5cjq6aik7c

I found a P52 dirty replicator which survives for a long but unpredictable amount of time in large toroids even in a field of blocks generated by its own debris. I'm not sure how to use viewer but the rule where it frequently spawns naturally from 50% randomness is B34567/S238/3

I ran a 3000x3000 toroid for 4 million generations and it is still alive but still sparsely populated, which is kind of interesting because you'd think it would either die out or fill the entire world with replicators and flame but it's just on the margin of survival in its own debris.

Example of the low replicator density characteristic of B34567/S238/3.
30000 generations into a 1000x1000 toroid of 50% random fill.

It does vary a lot but this is what it looks like at a relatively low point.

And here is 40000 generations. A somewhat higher population density

This pattern continued to self-replicate out to 185000 generations before dying out. Going back and deleting a single replicator at generation 120000 changed the lifespan to 155000 though, so there's some evidence that it's very chaotic, as a single replicator managed to change the lifespan of the world by 30000 generations only 35000 generations later.

That actually ends up dying off completely on generation 298511.
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

This one looks to be an actual rep:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 3, rule = B3aiky4ekqrtyz5cijn6ck78/S2c3-ry4cejkqt5i6cei7c8
bo3bo$3ob3o$bo3bo!
It first appeared unusual since I didn't observe a clear and common replicating pattern in between each "stage" (for lack of a better word; it just mean a simpler and more recognizable pattern such as 2 whitespace seeds far apart)
After further observation I noted that it's actually more of a composite of a simpler rep:

Code: Select all

x = 38, y = 3, rule = B3aiky4ekqrtyz5cijn6ck78/S2c3-ry4cejkqt5i6cei7c8
bo34bo$3o32b3o$bo34bo!
Two faraway exact copies of the above pattern appears at these generations:
95, 1379, 28707, 984746, 95465251, 2027153579
The weirdest thing about this sequence is that the log of that sequence is linear, but not a very good linear: quite curvy, 3 above the trend line and 3 below, and no three points fall strictly in the same line.

On second thought it might not be stable at all. At around 26 trillion gen long lasting oscs occurred (in contrast to temporary ones part of the evolutionary sequence leading to simpler rep). No lasting oscs has been observed before.

EDIT: it becomes stable at precisely 5,835,771,810,201,909,098,096,400,924,737,710!

EDIT2: this is the actual rep AforAmpere intended to find:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 3, rule = B3aiky4ekqrtyz5cijn6ck78/S2c3-jry4cejkqt5i6cei7c8
bo3bo$obobobo$bo3bo!
but I'd say it's more of a sawtooth

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 13, rule = B3aeiqr4-aijn5c6cei7/S2cn3-ajr4ceiqt5eijkq6-a7c8

A messy replicator in a Generations rule somewhat similar to CGOL:

Code: Select all

UPDATE:

Sorry, I didn't search the thread and didn't notice that this replicator is been already discussed.

Can small adjustable spaceships overrun the speed limit of (|x|+|y|)/P = 1?

A Platoon-like replicator in a self-complementary rule. This one travels at c/2o and emits gliders and a 3c/15d spaceship.

Code: Select all

A rule with fastest moving 1D replicator

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B01e2ci3-ikqy4acinz5c6ac7c/S012en3cijqy4eijry5ky6k7e
bo$obo$3o!

Edit : It's (8,16)c/16 and euclidean speed is 1.118033988749.
And yet, there's a c/2o all the way out here.

Code: Select all

x = 120, y = 62, rule = B01e2ci3-ikqy4acinz5c6ac7c/S012en3cijqy4eijry5ky6k7e

There's probably a version with puffers or a small ship or some other thing that allows us to make really interesting things.
Naturally, we can make oscillators (yes, you can trivially make them bigger):

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 6, rule = B2ei3aci4aei5kqr7e/S01c2-kn3ijry4citwy5aeiq

An oblique (3,5) puffer:

In self-complementary (like Day & Night) range 5 HROT rules:

Code: Select all

I remember this having been tamed into a functional replicator but can't seem to find it:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B38/S237e8
obo$obo$3o!

Probably already known, but I did not find it on this forum. A nice Sierpinski breeder:

Code: Select all

x = 71, y = 58, rule = B2ae/S3
14$50b2o$52bo$53bo$54bo$53bobo$54bobo$52bo4bo$58bo$58bo!
A pseudo-random spacefiller in a Generations rule (density ~0.03):

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 31, rule = 03/2a/3
7$16.AB$16.AB2$18.B$16.2A.B$16.ABA$17.2A!

Decided to create a multistate rule to force it into being one.

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = ForcedRepl
obo$obo$3o!
Shuttle:

Code: Select all

x = 48, y = 48, rule = ForcedRepl

As it doesn't have induction it still works in the 2-state rule:

Code: Select all

x = 48, y = 48, rule = B38/S237e8

Battles of fore/back/side rake counter/replicator produce interesting fractals. Unfortunately all of these are not sustainable, because an incorrect collision will explode at some point. The duration in ticks are as follows:

Having seen these, even a working ruler generator is not that interesting.
