Sparky P8, loaflipflop (one half on its own is an eater3 variant):

On reflection, I'm sure it is known from one of the other rules it exists in.

@Billabob I see you've run a lot of C1 soups in B378/S34 and a few more in some related rules. This particular p5 doesn't seem to have turned up yet, though I didn't check all the rules it works in. Are you planning on running any symmetrical soup searches in these rules?
The latest version of the 5S Project contains over 226,000 spaceships. There is also a GitHub mirror of the collection. Tabulated pages up to period 160 (out of date) are available on the LifeWiki.

No luck with the p10 wick, but here is a stabilisation for the p5:

Very nice! The lowest undiscovered period is 7 now, but RandomAgar has found this wick:

On reflection, I'm sure it is known from one of the other rules it exists in.
I always miss out the simple ones. How did you find it so quickly? Is it luck, or do you use a program?
While I was trying to find stabilisations for the p10 and p5 wick, I wondered what might exist at p5 and ran a JLS search. I can't remember if it was D4, D4_x or D8 but I think it turns up fairly quickly in any of those with a reasonable small area to search. I often start those searches with a block, pond, or other small object set in one generation and the sort set to circular starting at the centre. The p5 wick stabilisation was actually found with ofind - which was much faster than JLS.

wilmyron wrote:@Billabob I see you've run a lot of C1 soups in B378/S34 and a few more in some related rules. This particular p5 doesn't seem to have turned up yet, though I didn't check all the rules it works in. Are you planning on running any symmetrical soup searches in these rules?
I considered doing symmetrical searches, but turned the idea down for a reason that I still don't know. I'm running two instances in D8_1 B378/S3478 right now.

Seems quite a bit of searching has been done in this rule and some closely related ones. I haven't looked much bu I expect there's some interesting results there.

That is certainly a disadvantage of the program - but it is amazing how rules with very sparse collections of known oscillator periods support such a great variety of agar periods. It would be great if there was a canonical form for agars which RandAgar's results could be translated into in order to filter out the duplicate results.
The latest version of the 5S Project contains over 226,000 spaceships. There is also a GitHub mirror of the collection. Tabulated pages up to period 160 (out of date) are available on the LifeWiki.
