Well, this rule has these cool spaceship:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 38, rule = B2e3i4at/S1c23cijn4a
o$bo$o8$2o$2bo$o2bo$o2bo$2bo$2o5$2o$2bo$obo$2bo$2o6$2o$2bo$3bo$bobo$bo
bo$3bo$2bo$2o!
Sadly, it is explosive, because a checkboard breeder can evolves from extremely small seeds like this:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 4, rule = B2e3i4at/S1c23cijn4a
o$bo$bo$o!
There's lots of natural linear growth. For example, here's a siderake, a backrake, and a puffer I observed from manually generated soup in Golly:

Code: Select all

x = 83, y = 9, rule = B2e3i4at/S1c23cijn4a
b2o28b2o39b4o3b2o$obo27bo40bo4bobo2bo$o30b2o37bo2b2obob3obo$o69bo11bo$
bo29b2o$30bobo$30bobo$31bo$32b2o!
A soup:

Code: Select all

x = 89, y = 109, rule = B2e3i4at/S1c23cijn4a

I do not want a new thread for each and every new "interesting" isotropic rule. They are often randomly stumbled upon, apgsearched for a while and then forgotten.

I second this. Only rules with proof for guns, evidence for potential in engineering, unique enough behaviour and so on (so like Movostill, Snowflakes, tlife and many others) warrant their own thread. I seldom post my own rules as threads unless they show all of these things.
Otherwise the forums get clogged. :)

I third this. These types of rules should be on the discord, not forums.

I send rules as threads only if I discussed the rule enough and figured out it was interesting on GitHub. Also, this rule has engineering potential and not-so-unique behavior. Actually, it also have lots of natural converters like Cataverters. (I'm thinking about name this rule "Rockverters")

Currently, nobody is discussing the rule itself. Instead, they began to scold me.

I fourth this.

However, at the beginning I did once the same, this one:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3235&p=55389#p55389

Afterwards, I created:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3454
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3626
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3658
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3673
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3822

Not sure if all these five rules shoud have their own thread, but sure the majority.

I vote we call this rule (B2e3iq4at/S1c23cijn4ay) "rule Y" as a parody of rule R. (Or whatever). Also based on the 5-cell Y still lives.
This also proves that rule Y has guns of all periods above 45:

Maybe, but I think it will be quite tricky because destruction is tricky in this rule, e.g. you need 2G for this:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 15, rule = B2e3i4at/S1c23cijn4a
obo$obo$bo4$bo$b2o5$bo$obo$obo!
In a salvo it seems to be impossible, Further I think it is impossible to destroy the aircraft-carrier which is only 6-bit. I think there are more suitable rule for constructing a loopship,or construction based ships.

The behavior of the c/2 ships leaves me scratching my head. Is there a stabilization for the c/3 and c/4 waves?

Somehow everybody missed this p4:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 4, rule = B2e3iq4at/S1c23cijn4ay

B3/S2 has 1 trillion, and I wouldn't say it deserves a thread. Plus, X3VI has only really been primarily apgsearched by one person.

Also, I'd appreciate if you stopped bringing that rule up in threads, it comes off a little self-promotiony. Examples include:

I swear there was a more egregious example but I can't find it now

Didn't expected the b3q variation is so interesting! Orthogonoid, maybe?

What, rule Y?
Someone will need a synthesis for the reflector/splitter before we can make UC technology.

Would this be the first explosive isotopic 2-state nontotalistic rule with an engineered spaceship?

Yeah, it reminds me a bit of the old 1 x 256 + 1 (or whatever the acronym was) spam. Also, the word you're looking for is "self-promoting".

It would be okay if it was on the designated thread (I.E. I keep mentioning rule Y on this thread which has become the thread for the Rule Y as well as the OP rule) but it's off topic to say, i.e. "X3V1 is the best rule" (not saying that Testitem said that). Also, you're sort of the "foster creator" of X3V1, so as dani and 77topaz put it, it's kind of self-promoting.

But yeah. Repeated mentions of X3V1 don't really belong in threads for unreacted rules. If you want someone to search it (even more), post in the apgsearch request thread. Otherwise, mention it one the X3V1 thread or Random Posts. (Actually, I've refrained from mentioning my rules as much as I can even in threads where it would probably be OK to do so, like Random Posts.)
