Oops!

Anyway, I realized that generation 38 of teardrop is this:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 9, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
2o$obo$2bo$2bobo$b2o2bo2$4b4o$4bo3bo$7b2o!
There's a low chance that this could possibly be manipulated... somehow...
EDIT: Oops, I forgot that this rule had B2n so it wouldn't work anyway

Catalysis

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 10, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
b2o$obo$bo4$b2o$bobo$bobo$2b2o!
I’m rather surprised that in two full pages nobody has posted this potentially useful G+B reaction producing a "strange" pseudoSL.

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 13, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
9b2o$9b2o9$3o$2bo$bo!
I’ve seen this reaction many times and didn’t realize it could be useful until now.

For one thing, it has a 3G synth.
There is a 2-boat pseudoSL that thus has a 4G synth:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
13b2o$13bobo$14bo$12bo$11bobo$11bobo$12bo7$3o$2bo$bo!
The BH-B[oa]T PseudoSL is a 1TT (sorry about the abbreviations, I know they’re getting irritating):

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 15, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
bo$2bo$3o6$12b2o$12bobo$13bo$11bo$10bobo$10bobo$11bo!
It also can be struck to produce a temporary XWSS frontend, but is much cleaner (and I believe cheaper) than a B:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 25, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
bo$2bo$3o16$12b2o$12bobo$13bo$11bo$10bobo$10bobo$11bo!
#c [[ ZOOM 7 ]]
It thus may (or may not) provide a reduction to the price of the largest natural SL.

I think you mean a 1TT (one-time turner).

Bump
Can anyone search for a smaller c/3 using this object to stabilize one end?

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
2o$2o$2bo!
I imagine it wouldn’t take long; I found these near misses (2 cells and 1 cell off respectively) by hand and a couple life patterns (and not even the latter for the 2-cell off one).

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 5, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
3b2o13b2o$2ob2o10b2ob2o$2o3bo6b4o4bo$2o9bo4bo$12b2o!

Here's a longer partial from LLS - it's not looking very likely that there's a reasonably small solution.

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 10, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
o13b2o$obo8b2ob2o$b5o2b4o4bo$bo3b4o3bo$5bob2o$bo3b3obo$2b3o4bo2bo$2b2o
b2o4b3o$2bo4b4o3bo$7b2obo2bo!
Edit: here we go:

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 16, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
bo$b2o$bob2o$o2bob2o$o2bo2bo4b2o$6bob2ob2o$6bobo4bo$5b2obo$5b3o$5bo2$
7b3o$10bo$5bo3bo$6b2o$5bobo!
Also, it features in this c/3 from testitem's c/3 collection on the first page:

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 27, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
4bo9bo$3b4o5b4o$2bo3b2o3b2o3bo$3bo4bobo4bo$5b2obobob2o$5b2obobob2o$6b

o2$2b3o9b3o$5b2o5b2o$bo3b2o5b2o3bo$2b2obo7bob2o$5b2o5b2o2$6bo2bo2bo$b

Doh! I missed that...

Here's an xs34 (sequential aft xs33) and an xs36 (record breaker) in C1, and the producing reactions:

Code: Select all

x = 57, y = 19, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
43b2o$4b2o37b2o$4b2o3$50bo$49bobo$41bo7bob3o$2bo36b2ob2o10bo$2ob2o35bo
bo7b2o2b2o$bobo37bo8b2o3b2o$2bo6bo41bobobo$8b3o36b2o4b2o$7b3obo34b3o2b
o$7bo3b2o33b3o2b2o$7bo3bo34b2o3b2o$7bo3bo35b5o$9bo38b3o$49bo!
I'm internally calling this rule "Hatlife" every time I see one of these kinds of still lives... :|

This might be doable in 7G, but the pre-blinker and century both have to be synthesized at a very precise time... probably 8G.

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 16, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
2o$o2bo$b3o$2bo$6b2o$6b2o4$5bo$4bobo$3bo3bo$3bo3bo$3bo3bo2$4b3o!
EDIT:
synthable if we can make that 7-cell spark

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 15, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
3bo$3bo$3bo$bo3bo$o2bo2bo$o5bo$b5o$2b3o$3bo4$2b3o$3bo$2b3o!
EDIT:
Why aren’t there any p34s in this census?
https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b2 ... s234e/D8_4

All the other censuses besides the 3rd and 1st least searched censuses have it.

Methuselahs in Whichlife (Non record-breakers are not shown):

1-cell bounding box: 1G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 1, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
o!
2-cell bounding box: 2G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 3, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e

5-cell bounding box: 26G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 5, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
o$o$o$o$o!
6-cell bounding box: 66G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 6, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
o2$o$o$o$o!
8-cell bounding box: 173G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 8, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e
o$o$o2$o$o$o$o!
10-cell bounding box: 196G

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 10, rule = B2in3aeijn/S234e

11-cell bounding boxes failed to produce any new record-breakers.
