What what what? I don't remember this! I think that's new!!
If it really WAS new, then it's surprising that an oscillator with such a small size haven't been discovered.
Also, that would be the first oscillator to be discovered by hand instead of by soup searching.

Lepa is now the official name for the knightship
Triple posting... I wish I won't get a semi-automatic warning from dvgrn.
I think some of the p30 technologies in Life can be reproduced here with p22s (Seriously we have reflectors, For example a a gun pointing SE and a gun pointing NE would do the work if the input comes from SE)
The things I want would be, for example:
1. Ways to produce two or three closely spaced gliders. That can be done with both edgeshooters (Not likely to be possible unless we found a way to shoot a Herschel-like thing) and something like this in CGoL
Code: Select all
x = 20, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
12bo$10bobo$11b2o2$b2o$obo15b2o$2bo15b2o3$11b2o$10bobo$12bo!
and also blockic seeds (<s>@JokePlayer21</s>@JP21) that one-timely reflect a glider to keep it close to the other glider. Blocks should be easily generated by a 2-sided recipes if I'm not mistaken.
2. Guns for the "closely spaced gliders". That should not be hard after we had ways to produce two or three closely spaced gliders.
3. An "elbow" that pushes an object diagonally, and release a glider through the perpendicular direction of the elbow. I meant something like:
Code: Select all
x = 47, y = 44, rule = B3/S23
14bobo$15b2o$15bo$bo$2bo$3o3$6bo$7bo$5b3o13$37bobo$38b2o$38bo$24bo$25b
o$23b3o3$29bo10bo$30bo8bobo$28b3o8bobo$40bo2$35b2o7b2o$34bo2bo5bo2bo$
35b2o7b2o2$40bo$39bobo$39bobo$40bo!
4. More things based on Gustone's reaction involving two lepas and a c/4 spaceship
Code: Select all
x = 46, y = 86, rule = B2n3/S23-q
21b2o$21b2o64$6bo9bo$6bo9bo$5bobo3bo3bobo$3o6b2ob2o6b3o$bo6bobobobo6bo
$6bob3ob3obo$2b2obo11bob2o$bo3bo2bo5bo2bo3bo$bo3b2o9b2o3bo2$30b3o10b3o
2$29bo2bo9bo2bo2$29b2o11b2o2$34b3o2$33bo2bo2$33b2o!
It can be considered a 2L-to-G reaction, somehow. (L stands for Lepa) We can construct a p22 G-to-"2L+outputsignal" converter. That would create something like log-grow. However the slope is a problem. If we had elbows we can probably solve the problem but I'm not sure. Also we need rakes. Rake would make things a lot easier.
(To be continued...)
P. S. My parents refer to me playing OCA as "drawing cells".
EDIT: For the first task, Maybe something like this?
Code: Select all
x = 31, y = 44, rule = B2n3/S23-q

A 90-degree reflection would be better than delay, though...

Former 7G, now at most 6G:
Code: Select all
x = 58, y = 20, rule = B2n3/S23-q
39bo$37bobo$38b2o4$12bo8bo$10b2o10bo$11b2o7b3o$2bo$obo36b2o2b2o$b2o35b

2o2bobo$35b2o2b2o!
Nice cleanup! I think the lower limit should be around 5G.
EDIT: Well I'm going to write a script to find the potential cleanups.
EDIT: Search complete, still 6G:
Code: Select all
x = 66, y = 62, rule = B2n3/S23-q
obo$b2o$bo16$20bobo$21b2o$21bo9$36b2o2b2o$36b2o2bobo2$42bobo$36b2o7bo$
36bo7b2o$37bobo2$39bobo2b2o$40b2o2b2o21$63b2o$63bobo$63bo!
EDIT: Verified that there's no cleanup better than Naszvadi's one.
EDIT: Synthesis the R-R-loaf with blocks is easy:
Code: Select all
x = 0, y = 0, rule = B2n3/S23-q
23bo1$23bobo1$23b2o5bo1$29bo1$29b3o17$36bo1$35b2o1$35bobo1$25b2o1$24b2o1$26bo!
Cleaning up is hard.
EDIT: I love scripts!
Code: Select all
x = 32, y = 25, rule = B2n3/S23-q
obo$b2o$bo8$25b2ob2o$25b2obobo$28bo2bo$21b2o5b4o$20bobo$21bo8b2o$30b2o
2$19b3o$27b2o$17bo5bo2bobo$17bo5bo3bo$17bo5bo2$19b3o!
Funny how the block worked as a catalyst.
The last glider pair cleans up (5G total):
Code: Select all
x = 21, y = 25, rule = B2n3/S23-q
5$3bo$4bo2b2o2b2o$2b3o2b2o2bo$12bobo2$7b2o5bobo$7bobo5b2o2$9bobo$12bo
2b2o$11b2o2b2o3$15b2o$15bobo$15bo!
Neat! Now that would be the best cleanup, as there is no 1G cleanup.
My program assumes the thing settles down before the second glider comes, which is a problem.
EDIT: Compressed 180-degree reflector: (The output collides with input...)

No no no don't. Why contest? It's a game of contribution and cooperate and friendship, not a game of war and combat. This is a game where we are all working together. There are no contest.
Please.

Many people, including me, can't find anything interesting in CGoL.
Does that mean they will lose interest on CGoL? Is that ever possible?
No.
And this is a rule which haven't been developed much, where things are most likely to be new(For example, James' P6 is such a small oscillator which haven't been discovered for a long time).
There's still a lot of things to do. I will put them in order later I think.

I understand. Everyone around me knows CGoL, but
"Conway's Game of Life"

"LeapLife"
"What? Did you just said 'Leaf Rife'? Is that's a title of a song?"
