a script that automatically produces a proper Rule 110 unit for any such rule.
This is trivial as long as you have a way to canonise signals, which is very difficult - different rules have different kind of signals, spaceships, wire signals, wickstrechers, and other bizarre stuff. If you restrict it to stable splitters and orthogonal c/2 spaceships as signals I could do such a script in a minute easily.

1D rules are incomparable to 2D rules especially in circuitry, so shut up or at least stop talking nonsense, and respect other people.
Please try to comprehend that some people may use terminology slightly different from your personal jargon. I keep telling you already for two months that guns, reflectors, splitters and logic rules are not enough as a proof of Turing-completeness, because different rules have different wiring logistics. Now you are just saying exactly the same thing!!!! You just happen to call them "wire signals".

No, I do not restrict it to stable splitters and orthogonal c/2 spaceships. Why should I? Can you do such a script in a minute way with unstable splitters and 2c/2 photons that get modified in the process of splitting in a variety of way, and change their phases like my multistate rules?

And where in hell did I claim that 1D rules are comparable to 2D rules (besides in some specific limited aspects or with very many states)? Rule110 units are obviously 2D! Emulators of simple synchronized logic gates. You can implement them easily with transistors, which would make them 3D. So what? Your transistors will suddenly become exotic 1D particles or something? Please try to understand your interlocutors next time before making rude comments.
What non-existent jargon?? I keep telling you already for two months that you can't overturn a well-known community consensus, just like you can't say "Sir Robin synthesis is not beyond current program reach" and it suddenly is not!!!!!!!

Because you failed to canonise splitters into a machine-readable form.

Phasing is also trivial - say your splitter is p2 and it rephases your glider to another phase. Good, then chain it with another splitter and the rephasing is gone.

Can you all pleeeease stop this talking trash off-topic posts???? Hunting making a ginormous fat post full of unnecessary texts and quoting is the worst I've seen all month, even topping it all of with a signature. :/
All off-topic bad posts (including this) must/should/has to be removed from this page because I am unhappy about all of that.

Did I say non-existent? Every community has its own jargon, but it should be clearly defined, shouldn't it? However, your expression "canonise splitters" does not show up neither in Google nor in the database of this forum.

Because you failed to canonise splitters into a machine-readable form.
Are, so we go again in circles. You cannot just feed a ruletable to any existing software. You need to "canonise splitters", whatever it means, into a machine-readable form, i.e. customize your script by human intellect. There is no such a thing as a wow machine that takes a given ruletable and spits out a RLE file with a Rule110 unit, Rogozhin's (4, 6) UTM or something like that.

Community consensus is not a strict mathematical proof. Tweaking code is a not a generalized algorithm. Having a bunch of transistors is not the same as a working radio or a Rule 110 emulator, for that matter. Much in CA research relies on intuition, watching, guessing and playing around (with code too), not on strict mathematical proofs.

Ok, agreed here. I do this all the time in my patterns and it can be easily automated.

This one particular 1D rule is in some very limited and convoluted way comparable to TC 2D rules. OK, I do agree that I deliberately chose a notoriously difficult example.

I suggest to stop this discussion, as it is clearly off topic.

Peace! :D

Here's a c/6d; I don't believe this is known? If it is it's nowhere I can find:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 9, rule = 345/2/4
4.C.B$5.2A.B$6.2AC$4.CB.A$C.BA.2A$.2A2.B$2.3ACA$3.A.B$4.A!
If this is new it would make this ship the first non-c ship in Star Wars (as far as I'm aware, at least).

I wish! I don't quite know how to represent diagonal ships like gfind does in genfind searches—I'd love to have anyone's insight on that, though I suppose that's not really on-topic for this thread.

This was found with rlifesrc in a very quick search; it can refind this ship in literally a second with the right parameters

which is mostly why I wasn't sure if this was a novel discovery or not.

Here is a guaranteed indestructible box, where all initial cells are permanent. Though, it oscillates at the corners:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 13, rule = 345/2/4
.11A$2A.A2.A2.A.2A$A2.A2.A2.A2.A$13A$A2.A5.A2.A$A2.A5.A2.A$4A5.4A$A2.
A5.A2.A$A2.A5.A2.A$13A$A2.A2.A2.A2.A$2A.A2.A2.A.2A$.11A!
Woah! Are there any other known indestructible artifacts?
And how to prove any structure to be indestructible? (I place it in a large box and start t̶o̶ ̶s̶h̶a̶k̶e to chaos it up hard. Obviously, that isn't a strict proof.)

In Star Wars and similar rules, stable patterns can come in many different shapes. Two non interacting guns attached to the same pattern isn’t too notable.

As per your question, here is a collection of guns posted earlier in this thread, which has a smaller version of the gun.

Double gun:

three other guns:

Is there an even smaller one than the one on the left?

In Star Wars and similar rules, stable patterns can come in many different shapes. Two non interacting guns attached to the same pattern isn’t too notable.

As per your question, here is a collection of guns posted earlier in this thread, which has a smaller version of the gun.

In September 5, 2021, I accidentally found a fast gun.

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 10, rule = 345/2/4

It came out from this:

It looks like a fuse which is being burned at light speed. I have not yet seen that specific reaction before, and I don't know of any name for it.

I found this p12 oscillator.

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 22, rule = Star Wars

Smaller (but not the smallest):

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 18, rule = 345/2/4
2.A$.3A6.C$2A.2A3.A.A.C$.A.A4.B3A$.A.A5.A.A$5A3.5A$2.A7.A$.CAC5.CAC$

B$2.A!

Two oscillators:

A p340:

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 20, rule = Star Wars
4$5.AB2A$4.BC.A.BA$4.C.3ABC$7.A3.A$7.6A$5.A.A.A.A$4.6A$5.A3.A$6.5A$7.
B.A$8.C!
And a p43:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 3, rule = Star Wars
5.A$.A2.A.A2.A$11A$.A7.A!
