Spaceships in B23 rules (EDIT: Found one!)

It's thought that there are no spaceships in rules with B23, but I'd like to present some evidence that there likely are such spaceships. In addition, I'm hoping any interested parties will help search for an explicit example.
Since any rule with B23 (without B0 or B1) is highly explosive, it makes sense to look for ships with as high a speed as possible. I've had some promising partial results searching for ships with speed c and period 2. I've been searching for short wide ships, and searched with height 20 in two promising rule blocks: B23X/S13Y where X and Y are subsets of {6,7,8} and B235Z/S14W where Z is a subset of {7,8} and W is a subset of {6,7,8}. I have completed searches of larger widths in a few of these rules. Particularly promising rules include B2367/S137 in which I found this large partial pattern:

This suggests there are spaceships in B23 rules. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions about finding an explicit spaceship?

EDIT: Finally found one by messing about in WLS trying to narrow down the pattern until something symmetric appeared. The lucky rule was B23578/S14678.

Amazing! I have recently been searching for spaceships in B2 rules for which no spaceships are known, but I did not even consider searching in rules with B23. The shape is somewhat reminiscent of some of the ships I have found, with large wings supporting a shorter center. I have noticed that some rules give a myriad of wide partial results at sufficient heights, but give almost nothing at smaller heights. Did you find that there were no 2c/2 spaceships of height 22 in this rule?

It depends how you count the hight. This is a ship of height 22, in that each phase has a height of 22, which is how afind counts is. But if you were to use WLS to look for it, you'd need to search height 23, since the second phase is shifted up one from the first because it moves at speed c. So, afind would eventually find this ship with height 22.

I searched both rule blocks completely with afind, height 20. I kept track of how long the best partial pattern was, and started searching rules with long partials at larger heights, which is how I found the partial in my original post. One problem is a rule with the best partial at one height need not indicate significantly better partials at a slightly higher height. In fact, another previously unimpressive rule may suddenly have a great partial at another height. Another issue is that at height n, there may not too many results, but at height n+1 there are 'infinitely' many. Afind chokes when there are 'infinitely' many, and WLS quickly runs out of space on the board. What to do? Well...

I started looking at rule B23578/S14678 for short long ships, and found partials which repeated themselves, kind of like wickstretchers. So I thought to check this rule for short wide ships. I had already searched this rule at height 20, and the best partial was unimpressive. I tried searching at height 21, and the best partial was 50% longer. It looked promising so I searched at height 22. Afind was taking a while, slowly churning through this search, so I did the search in WLS to see what was happening. There I found that search quickly went to full length and noted the bottom edge of the pattern repeated. I wanted to find a place in the pattern that was symmetric, so I could finish the ship with the first half only reflected. But the ship was so tall, it was unlikely to be symmetric. I thought the bottom edge would be easy to continue, so I cut down the top, and found some partials that were short in the middle. After some tinkering I found what I was looking for, put the halves together, and made this ship. There may exist shorter ships in this rule, or in others.

BTW, what do you do with the new B2 ships you find? Does D. Eppstein add them to his data base? I wasn't sure if that was still an active project.

I have yet to send him my results in B2 rules. I have, however, sent him a collection of ships that represent new speeds for various B3 rules, but, as of yet, he has not added them to his database. I intend to post my results on the forums once I get them sufficiently organized.

It moves one cell every 7 generations, so its speed is c/7 orthogonally.
