I'm not sure about this one, but

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 8, rule = B2/S0
2b2o$bo2bo$o4bo$bo2bo$bo2bo3$o4bo!
That one is known. Please look through the forums a little before posting. Two of these one evolves from a domino:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 1, rule = B2/S0
2o!
The ones that evolve from a domino are actually slightly different. Your ship is known, though — for example, here's a rake for it.

I would imagine this ship is known, given how small it is, but I don't know how to check. Sadly the main place where patterns in this rule were kept was a wiki on Wikispaces, which is defunct now, so the only person I know of who has access to the information is Luke Bradford (who maintained the wiki), who hasn't visited the forums since 2016. (There might be pattern collections floating around elsewhere on the internet, and if anyone knows of them, please do share.) I think generally most small ships and oscillators (and usually puffers too) will be known, but please don't let that stop you from exploring the rule!

His username is just lukebradford — he posted a bunch on the first few pages of this thread.

(Looking back through the thread, it looks like I was wrong, there are still some archived pattern collections here, although they aren't up to date and I'm not sure how complete they are.)

Probably known, but I did just find this wick to go with it (also, probably known):

To be fair, simple objects aren't automatically known. Remember the copperhead?

Turns out you can put two of the two line puffers posted at the front of this thread together without the whole thing exploding

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 7, rule = B2/S0

Well, I think the copperhead is complex enough to be kind of hard to find. On the other hand, these are extremely simple.

We're more interested in things that aren't already known. For example, is there a collection of puffers that lays the following pattern of dots, heading north?

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 6, rule = B2/S0
5bo2$o$3bo$6bo$o!
This would immediately lead to O(t^3/2) growth due to this reaction, found by Aidan F. Pierce earlier in this thread:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 90, rule = B2/S0
14bo2$9bo$12bo$15bo$9bo7$14bo2$9bo$12bo$15bo$9bo7$14bo2$9bo$12bo$15bo$
9bo7$14bo2$9bo$12bo$15bo$9bo2$7b2o$6bo2bo4$6bo$o$3bo$6bo2$bo7$6bo$o$3b
o$6bo2$bo7$6bo$o$3bo$6bo2$bo7$6bo$o$3bo$6bo2$bo!

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3-q4z5y/S234k5j

Hm. This might be possible by using period-3 and period-6 puffers. First of all, is there a way to delete a pair of dots in this?

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 46, rule = B2/S0
o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o3$o!
Second of all, how would I delete a single dot in this?

Code: Select all

x = 1, y = 43, rule = B2/S0
o6$o6$o6$o6$o6$o6$o6$o!

There doesn't seem to be a copy of the LFoD collection available here, so I'm attaching a copy which I managed to find digging around in some of my archived files. It is a copy of the collection compiled by Luke Bradford as it was in 2014. Unfortunately it doesn't include the many interesting patterns which have been added since then and it doesn't include the useful commentary which was available on the LFoD wiki at wikispaces. Unfortunately there's no publicly available copy of the wiki anymore, but hopefully Luke archived it before the site went down.

Most of the patterns recently posted to this thread are included, so please have a look through the collection before posting similar simple / low period patterns. It's also worth having a look through this thread because there was a lot of great stuff posted here through 2015 and 2016.
