Not really, I would say. I think technically it's only a pseudo-tagalong if the front ship appears the same as it would without the possible tagalong in some but not all phases (such as in the fireship), even if only the spark at the back of the ship is altered.

Those evolve into the same oscillator, turned 90 degrees. The first is 57 generations ahead of the second.

In Life, the T-tetromino produces four blinkers. Here, it won't stop making them. The rule itself is the minimal rule, and is an expanding rule (Not exploding because it doesn't grow quadratically like one.). Amazingly, the whole reaction is only three cells thick!

This one sends pulses through the blinkers. The pulses go to the tail end of the blinkers and push them one cell back. Then the rest of the pulses do the same for the rest of the blinkers. Then they crash into the puffer, only to push the blinkers back again. Therefore the back end progresses at a logarithmetic rate. Amazingly, the whole reaction is only 5 cells thick!
