It is a troll, in the sense that a troll would do something unexcepted. A p23 billard table will remind one of the dr

A stable catalyst seems highly unlikely — there don't seem to be any interactions that can occur with a still life that generate the correct domino spark, let alone restore the catalyst — but a p2 catalyst or a phase-shifting mechanism at a higher period might be worth trying (5n-1, 7n-1, 4n+2, 6n-2, or the like).
