I got my first 7x7 in the mail. It kind of triggered my inner racist though.

Interesting! I used to be an obsessive solver of Rubik's Cubes. Can prove that I worked out my own solving method without looking at a book, too, because no reasonable person would solve a 3x3 the way I have to: get the colors right on opposite faces first, then gradually fix the four remaining sides.

I also used to be an obsessive paper-folder, making no-tape-allowed models of all kinds of Platonic solids, stellated and not -- more often than not variations on the original kusudama. Turns out you can make some (stellated or inverse-stellated) variant of a large fraction of the available Platonic and Archimedean solids and duals, with different ways of assembling fifty or a hundred or more copies of that one simple folded piece. Also things like diamond lattice structures.

However, I have successfully recovered from those old obsessions. Nowadays I just get outside and get lots of healthy exercise, building snow sculptures in the front yard with the snow from the driveway. And the sidewalks. And all the neighbors' driveways and sidewalks.

I keep noticing patterns on those square tiles, for example:

Assuming the white ones are ON and others are OFF,this can be a predecessor of zebra stripes in Life,or a p2 agar in B1/S.

Seems cubing is pretty popular here - makes sense, since cubes and such have a lot of maths behind them, despite not having to be a professional mathematician to just solve one. Speaking of solving, I'm trying out 4x4, and I just can't manage to reduce the remaining four layers into a 3x3...

So computing science exam (not one of the big exams thankfully, jut a prelim) results came back today, got a pleasant surprise: I was expecting a positively crap mark like 10% or something like that, but I got 56%, so definitely nowhere near perfect but it's a pass. Going to actually put effort into studying it from now on.

Since quantum physics is my area, but I am taking an overview grad-level physics course at the moment, I am having to learn all sorts of different disciplines at a moderately in-depth level. I've been binge watching NSF Fluid Mechanics videos from a few decades ago and am really enjoying their demonstrations. I encourage anyone, not just people who are going to be tested on this stuff, to watch a couple :D

YuXin have announced a commercially-produced 17x17x17 cube, which is slightly insane.

Excited for it, even though I only have up to 7x7 so far.

A to-scale solar system. Finally figured out how to make something orbit something that orbits something.
The link will need to be updated when I update the project. I'm planning on adding major moons. (So Mars won't get any.)

Edit: Finally added Galilean moons.

There is life on Mars. We put it there with not-completely-sterilized rovers.
And, for that matter, the Moon, Jupiter, Titan, and 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko.

I already knew that one, glad to see someone else here knows it. Vsauce I assume?

Also, if anyone's ever screwed around with windows back in the day and found those secret midi files, flourish.mid is also in 7/8.

So we're pointing out music in weird time signatures we know now? Here's some I know, although I admit my taste in music isn't quite what I assume most of us here are into: :)

7/4:

5/4:

I actually have a list of such songs used in geometry dash levels going on, in case you want to check that out

There's a small segment of 11/8 at one point during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I challenge all of you to find it.
