Am I the only one who doesn't like this?...

When rules have really common high-period oscillators (around 40 or more) or ships that travel in weird velocities. I don't know. It kinda bothers me.

Maybe we are just used to the lack of them in Life?

I actually quite like it. More incentive to find such things in Life.

You're definitely not the only one. It somehow feels like cheating to me.

I personally like when these types of things happen. They make the rules feel more... exotic?

Code: Select all

Indeed. B38/S23 might be my favourite rule.
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!

What about when a rule has a tiny knightship?

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory

Doesn't bother me. I had a century (2,1)c/10 knightship. Can't find what rule it's in.

Only when its period is over about 20.

My discovery in B3/S23-e4e is really annoying me.

(this one, a (16,5)c/74 c-heptomino knightship:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S23-e4e
o$2o$3o$bo!
)

Also when b-heptomino is a spaceship. Dunno why.
