Seriously, you are Gustavo Ramos Rehermann! I kept Gustavo Ramos Rehermann in my ignore list! REMOVING NOW FROM IGNORE LIST

Oh wait, we are still rivals. I will also do a trivial pattern, other than methusynthesis, but this time the credits will be mine. And moreover, if it is to be a methusynthesis, my methusynthesis will be smaller and run at lower period! Unfortunately that means it will have less than 23 cells, but will hold a record!

When we get famous and scoreboards show '[REDACTED] vs. Rehermann' I will never admit it, but ONLY now I used your trivial pattern to make a semi-pseudo replicator:

There are two BokaBBs?

BokaBB have 1361 posts and MathAndCode 1523 FYI

LeapLife advertising have 526 (the number of my posts containing "LeapLife") minus 301 posts (Posting in the LeapLife thread which is not advertising) = 226

Really, if I don't advertise, no one would ever notice there's now a 650-gen 6x6 methuselah in LeapLife. Sure it's not terribly notable, meant as a hard rule, but even those semi-enthusiasts doesn't watch the tedious thread, so what's wrong with posting highlights in LeapLife elsewhere?

Anti-anti-LeapLife arguments

Post by Hunting » December 5th, 2020, 8:53 am

LeapLife is very boring on itself for sure. But after looking for "interesting" rules for several years, I finally got bored.

Orthogonoids are coming out of every rule now, it's no longer even impressive. So here's LeapLife, a rule so extremely stable that it's hard to do anything other than die, but isn't it epic to see a Demonoid or other advanced constructs in such a rule, in the same sense that a Malbolge FizzBuzz program is more interesting than a Python FizzBuzz program. Unlike rules which have an Orthogonoid or Geminoid, it doesn't even have glider of two different speeds on the same direction, or an easy splitter, etc.

While some of my posts may be like that, I do not think that your interpretation is representative of all of my posts. For example, I have on several times refrained from writing code relevant to RCT-based universal constructors because I knew or figured that someone else had already written code (which is currently serving as a setback to an idea for sixteen-glider universal construction). In order so that I can improve myself more, could you please tell me in which particular areas I tend to exhibit this mindset the most strongly?
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Mostly in conduit finding, you're fine anywhere else
And in general:
Don't use Double/Triple B3/S23 for much unless it's absolutely necessary since it makes the patterns much more confusing (Just post multiple patterns)
And don't post long obnoxious posts like this
And just type "pi" instead of that weird character

Conduit finding (Century is conduit-worthy blah blah blah) and the recent Sir Robin "gliderless gun" thing. Many Lifenthusiasts are computer scientists (David Eppstein for example) so what you come up with is definitely thought of before. It only remains "unexplored" because it ended up being unworthy.

I don't see how it does that. I personally find it easy to interpret such patterns.

While I agree that such posts in general shouldn't exist, MathAndCode had a valid point there. BokaBB was refusing to give us RLEs, and I literally had to reverse-engineer the ladder they posted just to see it work.

I don't think it's that weird. If we were handwriting these posts, I'd think we would use the actual π character instead of "Pi", although that's just my opinion.

I figured that an Eater 2 would have a decent chance of forming from a two-glider seed for two reasons:
  1. It's symmetric.
  2. It's an eater, which carries two advantages.
    1. It will still form even if it initially forms with a spark instead of a block for certain sparks.
    2. If the seed generates an Eater 2 and something else that would destroy most objects, the Eater 2 could still survive. (I think that I saw a synthesis of some fishhook-tie where the fishhook eats something about five generations after being formed.)
I figured that the second reason would also help make an Eater 5 likely.
That is like saying: I figured that a spaghetti monster would have a decent chance of being the output of a century conduit for two reasons: It's symmetric, and it have several sparks to survive.

I'm blocking you to avoid reading such handwaving posts. Really annoying. 这就叫做“民科”

Re: Random posts

That does make a spaghetti monster MORE likely to be the output of a century conduit than it would be if it were asymmetric and had no sparks. It's not likely by any means at all, but it still improves the odds. First of all, symmetry can be gained, but not lost on its own, so you already have a slight bias towards symmetric objects. Second of all, being able to catalyze does mean you're more resilient than you would be otherwise, this improves your odds further of finding a spaghetti monster than it would have. Like I said, it's not likely by any means, but it's still more likely than it would have been otherwise. While I don't believe an eater 2 is very likely, it's still incomparably more likely than a spaghetti monster. As a result, it might be worths searching for. MathAndCode specifically said a two-glider seed, not a two-object seed, which means you also have the additional advantage of being able to start out symmetric. After that, it's likely just letting apgsearch ram gliders into block fields or something until an eater 2 pops out. Not very likely, but I think it's decent enough to give it a try when I get a chance.

But he has a point: for example instead of saying this

That LWSS eater does not seem useless (although it's probably already known) for multiple reasons. It can be constructed with only two gliders. While this is also true of a fishhook, this particular LWSS eater can be constructed in two ways due to its symmetry, which makes it more versatile. In addition, this LWSS eater is half of a blockade, so it is possible that one half of a blockade could be used as an LWSS eater and the other half could be used for something else.
You can say this
More concise to say this wrote:That eater is probably known, since it's only two blocks. If it somehow isn't it could be useful since it's only a half-blockade.
(By the way that particular LWSS eater is definitely one of the top five most rediscovered patterns)
