I had a post about volcanos, but the neutrinoes wouldn't let me do it.

GOLDBACH CONJECTURE PROOF

Post by Gamedziner » November 25th, 2017, 12:05 pm

4=2+2
For all greater even numbers, consider the "weak" Goldbach conjecture:
For all odd n greater than or equal to 9, n can be expressed as three odd primes. Let these primes be p₁, p₂, and p₃.
Let the even number be x.
Now consider the number x+p₃. Since x is even and p₃ is odd, x+p₃ is also odd. Since we are only considering even numbers greater than or equal to 6, and the smallest odd prime is 3, x+p₃ is an odd number greater than or equal to 9.
x+p₃ is an odd number greater than or equal to 9, and n is any odd number greater than or equal to 9.
As x+p₃ is a proper subset of n, all properties that apply to all n also apply to x+p₃.
Thus, x+p₃ can now be expressed as the sum of three primes, or x+p₃=p₁+p₂+p₃.
Subtract p₃ from both sides.
x=p₁+p₂.
Thus, all even numbers greater than 2 can be expressed as the sum of exactly two primes.

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory

Nothing says that the p₃ on the left has to be the same as the one on the right. It would be more properly expressed as x+p₃=p₁+p₂+p₄, from which no proof of the Goldbach Conjecture can be easily derived.

You can add any real number to another real number. I just chose p₃ as the number to add to x (on purpose). I intended to add the same variable p₃ that is in the "p₁+p₂+p₃." Just because p₃ is a variable doesn't mean I can't add it to another variable.

Sorry, I misunderstood your argument at first. There still seem to be some logical holes, and if it were that easy to prove, someone would already have done it.

You got me there. There is a MUCH weaker version that I can prove though:
All whole numbers greater than 3 can be expressed as the sum of 7 primes or less.
Values less than 20 have explicit solutions.
Odd numbers greater than 9 are known to have solutions with 3 primes.
For even numbers x (all x being greater than or equal to 10), x+1 and x-1 can be expressed as the sum of 3 primes.
x-1=p1+p2+p3
x+1=p4+p5+p6
Add them to get:
2x=p1+p2+p3+p4+p5+p6
That is a number greater than or equal to 20 and divisible by 4. All such numbers can be expressed with at most 6 primes. The remaining numbers can be expressed with at most 7 primes, as adding the prime "2" gives the remaining numbers:
2x+2=p1+p2+p3+p4+p5+p6+p7 (p7=2)

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory
58.2A$58.2A3$59.2A17.2A$59.2A17.2A3$79.2A$79.2A2$57.A$56.A$56.3A4$27.

You can reduce '7 or fewer' to 'exactly 4': every sufficiently large even integer is 3 + n, where n is a sufficiently large odd number therefore expressible as the sum of three primes. Likewise, odd numbers are of the form 2 + n.

Catagolue in Javanese would be somewhat amusing, given that it's written in Java.

Justice man, justice man, does whatever a justice can (not much)
Justice man, episode 1 leaked script:
(scene: a courthouse, case Napoleon III vs France)
JM: You claim your case is that your birth certificate lists you as Napoleon III and as a result you are the rightful heir of Napoleon's vast empire?
N3: No, my case is that I was arrested for saying something that sounded like an insult in Etruscan. I was not in France, I was in Russia and I have never claimed anything about my ownership of France.
Prosecutor: This alibi is invalid, as the island of Russia was sunk by the Mayans in 1883 when they were trying to stop a war with Italy but sent their nuclear weapons to the wrong country.
N3: Your facts are wrong. The Mayans were completely obliterated by Japan in 1882 so they couldn't have nuked Russia. Also, are you qualified to be a justice?
JM: Back to the case, you both make valid points, but I must rule in favor of the prosecution. (I hate my job.)
N3: No, I meant the city, Russia, located in Arabia.
[hours more of court scenes, but you get the picture.]
(I don't know how a court works)

As the Queen of England, I have the power to subpoena you for such insolent behavior. (DISCLAIMER: I might not actually be the queen of England (I may even be the wrong gender (female)) but England is my city so hard that I might as well be. (The authorities didn't agree.))

The Big Bang theory is false.

Post by Gamedziner » December 7th, 2017, 8:23 am

Proposition: The Big Bang theory is false.

Proof:

Let us suppose that the Big Bang theory is true.

Then, at the start of the universe, there was a massive explosion.

Additionally, all energy in the universe was concentrated into a very small volume.

Black holes are known to exist with smaller concentrations of energy.

Thus, the energy at the start of the universe, being much more compact than an ordinary black hole, immediately became a supermassive black hole.

The black hole does not allow anything, including light, to escape.

Thus, no explosion, including a massive, universe-creating explosion, could occur.※

Consequently, the supposition that the Big Bang theory is true leads to a contradiction.
As such, the opposite — namely, that the Big Bang theory is false — must be true.

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory
