Imagine a world where these suggestions are taken seriously.
When in Doubt, Ask Wadufi! Today our beloved columnist continues to help with your micellaneous questions. We are going to focus on preadolescent life.

Q: Hello, this is a primary school teacher. We have an entrance test for kids, but I constantly think that it is overly difficult and I cannot persuade others to change this situation. Should I insist?
A: It depends on the exact test problems, and indeed you need to understand the capabilities of examinees if you do not want to deter too many. Say, arithmetic below 10 is much better than a task to hatch an egg.

Q: What do you think about campus bullying?
A: This is a very serious issue for school managers. It is common for students to have quarrels and discriminations, and if this happens, teachers should intervene actively to provide solutions instead of sitting aside and letting them fight. On the other hand, campus environment must be improved to prevent potential hazards arising from bullying incidents, such as falling from height.

Q: You know, farming life felt so boring since childhood and I have fled from countryside to megapolis. Eye-opening but puzzling! After these months I began looking back at my hometown but going back could make me a coward. Can you give some suggestions?
A: I can imagine your dilemma, feeling blue even when observing sunrise on the east that gives your little home a golden shade. However, generally there will be countless brand new possibilities in a city compared with a tiny farm. Just keep going if determined, and success will eventually come to you.
...
EDIT two days later: did you know...
that puzzle.mc was formerly named geometric-progression-puzzle.rle and metapixel-p216-gun was eppstein-p216-hist-META-B35-S236.mc.gz in some ancient Golly versions? (These are not reflected in changes.html unlike today)

I also believe that rediscovery isn’t bad, and without knowing that it’s a rediscovery while saying that one discovered this is also not bad, but circling the patterns they found is a never done before(kinda) thing to a pattern collection, at least for me. That’s more than just saying, I was the first to find this, and why would you need such a large box(with a lot of empty space, [s]did you discover empty cells …?)[/s] like people either acknowledge the fact that you found this, sometimes naming them after you like cordership, but I don’t think they just give the names themselves. Most people has to agree with this, and you don’t usually name a pattern when you just found it(except systematic names) I would rather hear people saying, oh
I discovered these oscillators Or,
pxxx, pxxxx, pxxxxx Not adding to a pattern collection circling out what you found.
the first thing is you don’t usually just throw things into the pattern collection, you just post the new discoveries,
And as I said circling out one’s discoveries is a bit odd, and using a lifehistory rule just for circling. (Except the glider tag along and eater part which I don’t understand why it is there)
In this particular case, I believe that indeed it would be more reasonable to just post the new (re-)discoveries, rather than modifying and reposting the whole collection. Unfortunately your reply in that thread did not say anything about that, and instead was (and still is, as of the time I'm writing this) an one-line response that, in my personal opinion, has an undesirable effect of discouraging attempts to make constructive contributions to the thread - because now it makes the impression that basically pretty much everything of interest is already "obviously known and in catagolue". As it stands, that does not seem constructive to me. Also, I cannot see how the question of naming patterns is relevant to this particular case.

To reiterate: please do not make one-line replies that say something is already known. There is an option of actually replying by writing who and when discovered that something, and/or providing references to available resources (forum threads, LifeWiki, the book, Catagolue, published papers, ...) where that knowledge can be found. Also there is an option of replying here in Sandbox (as I did), rather than adding an off-topic post to the original thread.

Found this on the net

A primary school teacher who left a class of 25 pupils in tears after she told them Santa Claus did
not exist has been fired. When excited youngsters became rowdy as they talked about Santa, the supply
teacher said out suddenly, "It's your parents who leave out presents on Christmas Day."
The class of sevenyearolds at Blackshaw Lane Primary School, Royton,Greater Manchester burst
into tears and told their parents when they arrived home. Mothers and fathers then complained about the
incident and were sent a letter by the school saying the teacher, who only worked at the school for one
day last week, has been disciplined.
The school has now said it will not hire her again.
One father said, "My son came home and said that his teacher had told the class that Santa doesn't
exist and it's their mum and dad that put out presents for them. Obviously, they were all talking about
Christmas and being a bit rowdy. She just came straight out with it."
"My son was in tears and so was everyone else in the class-especially as it was so close to
Christmas. I thought it was wrong. He was crazy about it. He's only seven years old and it's part of the
magic of Christmas to him."
"We told him that she did not believe in Father Christmas because of her religion and he's fine now."
"The father described the incident as 'shocking' and believed it was done with malicious
intent. A lot of parents were angry and complained to the school. The teacher, who was
supplied by Rochdale and Oldham Supply Agency,is still listed and will work with other schools,"the
agency said.
However,t he head teacher in Angela McCormick refused to comment on the incident.

You continue to be driven by your childish belief in your own importance. You do not have the maturity or experience to make such judgements. This is especially true when you do not say why NimbleRogue's post is in the wrong thread or suggest a better thread.

Please stop polluting the forums in this way.

Maybe it would be helpful to specify exactly which other thread you would suggest for that post. Also, why force readers to scroll through an unabridged copy of the original post just to see an one-line reply? According to (3d)

This is not corrupting the sand box. we just make random posts here. i can hardly find anything in this forums that is personal.

Edit:
I'm just gonna stop making posts so it won't clutter up the thread.

In my opinion, being in the Sandbox does not suddenly make it any more reasonable to mess with people and waste their time.
I'm just telling them that they had posted in the wrong thread, not to mess around with them.

Obviously this is not your personal sandbox. This is Sandbox on the forum dedicated to cellular automata.

I've just looked through a few recent pages of this thread, and it certainly seems like people in general do not "just make random posts here". At least to me it seems more like people make random posts here so that these posts can be read by everyone else who wants to read them. And apparently there is no such thing as "public private message".

Also,

First, let me say That I'm not offended by Yujh's comment, I'm still relatively new to the forms and I'm glad to learn how to improve and grow. The reason I posted it in the Rules with interesting dynamics was twofold 1 the c/2o tech Seemed surprisingly versatile 2 the "Failed dirty puffer lasts for an incredibly long time and can appear multiple times in a soup. I'm not aware of the forum Yujh mentioned but can he send it, please thanks.

Here's some of the specially used thread and their function, for everyone, I guess:

Thread for basic non-CGOL questions:
Very OCA related Q&A
Thread For Your Unrecognised CA (TFYOCA for short):
Unrecognised, or basically just new rules go here
Usually you post new rules before you make a thread. This is for less new topics. You can see how people react to your new rules or someone might corderize something, etc. Usually don't make too many posts on just a single rule in that thread (don't be more than a page, but I've somehow done that twice :? ), if you have a lot it should deserve a thread (not always).
Miscellaneous Discoveries in Other Cellular Automata (MDIOCA for short):
Miscellaneous Discoveries in Other Cellular Automata. Also not so notable discoveries in very old threads, that is to avoid necroposting (like bumping a thread after a long time, like half a year).
Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds (5s) Project:
yes it's just what its title is.
Smallest Oscillators Supporting Specific Periods:
.
Miscellaneous Spaceship (collections) in Other Cellular Automata:

GUYTU6J,

I notice that you liked yujh's post above. Is the following still your opinion?

As for the OCA part, my thoughts are pretty similar to that of muzik's:
  • "General Discussion" for general theories and possibly programs/simulators;
  • "Range-1 Life-like" for 2D 2-state range-1 outer-totalistic rules, isotropic non-totalistic rules, and non-isotropic rules, on square/hexagonal/triangular grids;
  • "Higher-range and Generations" for two generalizations of the 2D rules above, namely higher range and longer generations, custom weighted neighbourhood allowed;
  • "Others" for everything else, including but not limited to Margolus, PCA, BSFKL, deficient, naive, extended/investigator/symbiosis, colorized, loops, termites, constructor-computer rules, non-2D rules, other random ruletables, and whatever else developed by bprentice (sorry if a bit rude)
On another topic, you are not qualified to make changes to this LifeWiki article:

so please do not do so.

The article exists because Dave Greene did not like links printed in red. The single line in the article does however, allow the reader to find out about my personality, interests and accomplishments by simply reading my 908 posts to the forums.

The DEFAULTSORT line needs to remain. It's not text; it's sorts the page correctly (by last name) in things like categories.

Wow, I have not imagined that one day I would be called (?) for a casual post like and I need to spend half an hour to reply. I merely thought yujh's post is a good summary for the current status of OCA board.

What in your mind would be implied from my answer of either yes or no? None of the proposals for the other cellular automata subforum (and in fact the rest of conwaylife.com forums) has been implemented yet since February, let alone mine.

No, having no interest in the article I am not going to edit it; I am just curious about the unusual redaction, the underlying reason of which is not clear at all to any other forums member. And I would say the last sentence makes no sense to me; expecting a reader to "simply" dig through tons of original publications to understand a topic is exactly the opposite of the intention of encyclopedias or academic reviews.

Wow. My post again caused quite some chaos. Also correction is that book is the one who did all these. Dvgrn doesn’t do these.
Is the following still your opinion?
What’s your opinion on dividing the OCA board? My post above isn’t related to that at all. It’s just a summary of what the threads are.

I was simply pointing out the inconsistency in your opinion on yujh's thread definitions and your February proposal and was curious as to whether you have changed your mind about your proposal.

Another inconsistency, If you have no interest in the article why did you inquire about my corrections and why are you curious about it?

Have you polled all forum members?

I am not expecting anything. I am simply providing an accurate statement which can be used by a reader to find out who I am should they choose to do so.

To summarize:

Yesterday after being edited, the article was inaccurate. Today it is accurate and serves to remove the red links that Dave Greene dislikes.

The thread definitions has nothing to do with the proposals.
Have you polled all forum members?
do you really think people will vote? It’s just such a small article. Talk on the talk page.

The thread definitions has nothing to do with the proposals.
The thread definitions are your proposal for the organization of the current OCA board. The proposals are suggestions for the future organization of the OCA board. So they are directly related.
