EDIT by dvgrn: New location of Mikipedia material moved off of the LifeWiki is https://mikipedia.fandom.com/wiki/.

I was cluttering the Discord so I made a thread for this.

Some highlights:
pacman33 wrote: Hey guys, I found a 3c/313d spaceship
Hello pacman33, welcome to the forums! Unfortunately these are not interesting...
I discovered a 5-cell still life:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B3/S23
bob$obo$oob!
Dang, you just found a 5-bit still life
You just earned a 1000000 dollar prize from Con Johnway, who thought that 5-bit still lives were so unlikely that he could safely bet 1 million that none exist
wwei23 wrote: Calcyman, you've started to irritate many users on this forum, with a combination of needlessly promoting your 'C1' results over various threads, multiple-posting, and pointless oblique ship-posting. Despite several people requesting, with varying levels of politeness, that you cease this behaviour, you persisted unabated.

List of notable people:

-- andrewph33, found the first glide-symmetric spaceship
-- Saka, found a replicator in B36/S23
-- Con Jonway, created Life and put a $1,000,000-dollar bounty for a polyomino still-life; still hasn't been fulfilled, although the subsidiary $100,000 prize for a polyomino oscillator was earned (also by Saka and andrew)
-- Adam P. Goucher, found the first natural occurence of a ibis-wise spaceship (link to "Ibis-1")

I set up the search wrong, so unfortunately I didn't find a p4 sparker, but I did find this slope 4 spaceship, well, I guess it has a nice backspark.
There may be bugs in apgsearch. Here's a soup that makes a natural Sir Robin, and some other stuff as well.

You people are RIDICULOUS. Con Johnway knew what he was doing when he gave the thousand-dollar bounty on 7-cell still lives, it's a fool's gold endeavor to attempt to find one.
Oh my god, I found a 6-cell, that BEATS the bounty!

Woops, I mashed my keyboard and accidentally wrote a script to find oblique rakes shooting weekenders once per prime generation. It's on 194 so far, there's one which is a polyglot in B36/S23 and Hutton32, so that's pretty cool.

Related to the Spider Super-Jetpack is the Spiderailgun, a mechanism which is used to launch spiders at 99.99999999999999999999951% the speed of light towards large tungsten pools such as the sun. It draws spiders from a spider dimension and launches them at said speed towards the tungsten pool in order to provide it with energy.

Mikipedia wrote:The New York City Revolution was an attempted take-over of New York City by a clan of genetically bred wolf spiders migrating from outposts of the group Islenskt Kóngulóarsamfélag, an Icelandic pro-spider-rights group. The attack occured on 9th November 2001, when an unidentified IK member released the group's wolf-spider breed in a World Trade Center office. It left 337 dead.

There is no known footage of the NYCR itself inside the WTC, due to the spiders involved destroying cameras. There is one known tape, shot by Abraham Zabrovsky while he was in an office in Manhattan. Abraham's camera currently belongs to the Arachnid History Museum in Nebraska.

Due to the attack itself involving many temporal paradoxes and retroactive deaths, as a result of stolen time travel technology, the MRCA of IK's particular spider breed was born in 1990 and further went on to create a spider colony in the Holy Roman Empire on 11th September, 1002.

As a result of the time travel theft. the related Great Change of History occurred. As the spiders happened to obtain a hat and a taco from a Taco Bell raid they had also been in, the spiders introduced the taco and modern hat varieties to the Holy Roman Empire's denizens, thus leading to a spike of hats and tacos in Western culture. An attempt to fix the GCH was done by the UN Spider Protection Agency; however, due to the time onset power metric being 0.5 on the equipment the UNSPA used, only half of affected history has been undone; Google Trends shows left-overs from the "hat importance" timeline on a periodic 24-hour scale.

There are rumors that Cookiechambre is controlled by spiders.

Andrew K. is the pseudonym of a whistleblower in Princeton's Spider Education Group. Andrew K. started the JGoL Scandals of 2004, as he claimed that Con Johnway was under the influence of spider eggs hatched in his brain by the "Sloveni za Pauke!" (eng. "Slavs for Spiders!") movement, but that Con's team (including Andrew) was contractually obligated to not speak about this fact since 1972.

The only clue to Andrew's identity is that he claims to have been affected by a power outage in 2000 which caused no damage to the computers of individual JGoL enthusiasts, instead loading the program Golly on the computers affected. Each computer had a different pattern loaded: Andrew claims he had a giant Crêpetélévision Cookiechambre logo with "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESIST" written in French below it.

IK is also involved in illegal endangered spider breeding programs to produce "perfected soldiers", spiders bred with more harmful venom and faster travel capability.

This is a thread about a weird alternate universe. Its most marked difference is that spiders are as smart as humans and frequently rebel, once a month on a global scale.
