on http://lifecompetes.com, one has only 12 cells to make things with. As a result, for that website it is useful to <s>catagolue</s> catalogue how to make larger objects for cheap. For instance, fumarole can be built thusly:

Is a caterer taking up too much room but necessary to stabilize something? Jam can often serve as a replacement, has a slightly smaller bounding box, and can be converted from a caterer with eight cells.

This might be improvable to seven or fewer cells.
Also, a reverse reaction with similar cost is probably possible, which would allow a staged caterer in case someone needs a spark from the caterer's other half.

the moral of today's story: don't make a superstring with other people, because there are cheap strats that let you grab cells from other people off the string so it inevitably breaks when someone messes up with the timing on that
