If anyone wants to tile their home on a cellular automata theme

...for instance, you could tile a bathroom wall with black and white tiles as your favorite Life pattern, or as a still life (keeping it honest, since after all, the ceramic tiles won't be changing) (or a sequence of generations of a 1D CA like rule 110).

I was trying to find a robotic solution for placing 60°-120°rhombic tiles and I don't see one, though I don't see any reason it couldn't be done. You'd have to be able to place each rhombus in the right spot and rotate by some multiple of 120° degrees, all of which is feasible, on mosaic backing, which could then be installed like ordinary tile.

However, there is a company https://artaic.com that can produce large custom mosaics of square tiles. They claim the price is $15-$40 per sq. ft. (I am guessing it depends on material). That's pricy but doable. They do a lot of photo reproductions and other representation art, but I think a computer generated mosaic based on Conway's Game of Life would make a really interesting architectural feature.

Idea!
you have lots of black squares on the walls of your room,
with lots of white LEDs,
and in the night, instead of a night-light...
you make it repeatedly run soups,
or a preset pattern,
lighting up live cells,
wrapping over the edges and corners.

(not really poetry of any kind)

That would actually be really cool if somebody made it, but like,
Good luck.

wasn't planning to, and my thought was also, like, that would be awesome.

More idea:
you can press the little button at the center of a cell to toggle it, and there is a little control panel on the wall for "pause," "play," "change rule," and "load."
