Synthesis challenges

Post by MathAndCode » March 15th, 2021, 9:48 am

The goal of this thread is to create syntheses for various still lives and oscillators. You are only allowed to use the two-glider collisions (and not any two-glider syntheses for the object in question if it only costs two-gliders), reactions that you discovered or independently discovered, and miscellaneous reactions not immediately relevant to glider syntheses. For example, here is a synthesis of a ship that I made using one of the two-glider collisions that makes a domino spark that doesn't die right away:

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 13, rule = B3/S23
17bo$obo13bo$b2o13b3o$bo6$21bo$4b3o13b2o$6bo13bobo$5bo!
Cost does not matter; instead, the first person to synthesize the object gets to choose the next object for others to synthesize as long as the object isn't too difficult to synthesize. The first object to synthesize shall be the pond.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Does this count?

Yes (although you could have used the two-glider collision for a blinker). Now you get to choose the next object to synthesize.

SOrry for being late.
The next one may be xs8_33w33

EDIT: Could you show me my previous synthesis in the testing thread? My post disappeared.

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 21, rule = LifeColorful
11.E$10.3E$10.E.2E$13.E4$2.2B$.2B$2B$.2B15.2D$19.2D$18.2D$17.2D4$7.C$
7.2C.C$8.3C$9.C!
I have reduced the glider cost of quadratic growth to eight and probably to seven. Looking for conduits...

I don't think that I will be able to see any posts that you can't see.

xs24_g8kidik8gz0124b421 just stirred up some interest on Discord. Dumping all the soups out to a big RLE file turned up quite a few exceptions to the general rule that this still life appears within the first few ticks. The full collection of 602 soups is attached.

Should be pretty quick to sort out the few promising ones from this collection -- they're the ones where you can't see xs24_g8kidik8gz0124b421 in the middle after running a dozen ticks...!

EDIT: This 26G recipe is what will be on Catagolue unless someone can find a soup with something extra promising in it, that I didn't notice on a quick scan:

Code: Select all

I posted a synthesis in your thread before, and now it vanished.
My pi day thread, my esolangs thread, my glider destruction thread had all disappeared.

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 21, rule = LifeColorful

I am tentatively considering myself back.
