The 16 state rule Cars:

is a member of Square Cell's Rule Table family. The Rule Table dialogue is:

The Cars rule is a member of the "Odd Firing" rule family. This can be seen by observing the State Weights table in the rule defining dialogue in the previous post. I have been exploring other rules in this family. The results are posted here:

Because neither Golly nor LifeViewer support rules that are defined by dialogs. In particular those dialogs shown in the first post. This means that most rules in this rule family cannot be run by Golly or LifeViewer and sadly those that can require a separate rule file.

This is a pity since the use of such dialogs permits the easy modification and testing of rule definitions in the simulator.
