Engineered Still Lifes

Post by LLAMASKYWALKER » April 7th, 2022, 12:03 pm

when i am bored, i sometimes add or remove 1 cell from a still life, and then try to stabilize it, making a "engineered still life" and i am going to make this thread so i and other people who end up doing this can post some cool ones.

congrats if you manage to make a new catalyst with that still life or find a glider synthesis for a engineered still life

This is basically what welding is. You have two objects that are too close to each other on their own, so you have to modify the parts used solely for stabilization and not as an oscillator or catalyst.

Sorry for replying to this, but technically this is only about 2 months. I feel like this should be moved to The Sandbox because it is pretty useless and is like a game. EDIT by dvgrn: Done! Anyway, 150 cell(interesting parts seperated)

At 314 bit, I was like lets stop here it's half of tau hundred. But then everyone would say it is pi hundred, so I decided to do 628.
At about 400 cell, it was hard to complete, and I was ready to give up but when I decided to work on one bit of it at once, it worked out. What also can be done is stabilizing one part and breaking another, eventually getting to the edge. The hard part is labeled hot pink.
At 626 cell, I thought:How can I add 2 bits to it without breaking it? I decided to turn a tub on the edge to the beehive, which is labeled pink.
The starting point is labeled blue(sky blue, actually but in my opinion, it is blue)
Edit 2:7/22/2022:
Bored.
