Please do not post large long RLEs unless absolutely necessary. That puts strain on the server, increases page load times/bandwidth for readers and (imo) is not really useful once there are more than a few posts with huge RLEs.

You could read Explosive and decide for yourself which rules you do/do not consider explosive. Or you can ask whether there are commonly used definitions that are algorithmic enough to answer the question for specific rules. Maybe that would be more productive than asking basically the same question multiple times for different specific rules.

Is this explosive?

Code: Select all

x = 500, y = 500, rule = B34q5y6-in7c/S23-k4c5y6i
snip
Most soups stabilize, but 500000 gens with few signs of stability.

This rule is not explosive:

Code: Select all

x = 302, y = 231, rule = B2n34q5y6-i/S23
snip
Same soup, remove S3k and it turns explosive!

Code: Select all

x = 302, y = 231, rule = B2n34q5y6-i/S23-k
snip

Is B2n3-q4q5y6kn/S023-kq4c6i8 explosive?
Also please do not make short chatty posts - it feels like a spam. That also includes short chatty posts telling other people to not make short chatty posts.

i like this rule.
Please don't make these sort of posts.
(I'm not a moderator, so I cannot really do much, except to go to the Sandbox and state my opinion that these sort of posts are not helpful, and make it harder for people to contribute something useful and/or find something useful contributed by someone else (and perhaps try to remember to avoid falling into the usual trap of making such a post myself).)

Okay I don't even know the period:

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 13, rule = Symbiosis
7.3A$7.A.A$6.5A$2.B2.A5.A2.B$2A2.A7.A2.2A$A.A.2A5.2A.A.A$.2A4.A.A4.2A
$3.11A$2.BA.A5.A.AB$3.3A5.3A$2.B.A7.A.B$4.B3A.3AB$6.B.A.B!
LifeViewer -> button in the lower-right corner -> Pattern -> Identify -> Oscillator period 90.

Welcome! You can introduce yourself at the thread Introductions, and read the forum rules.
You could provide links to the thread and the forum rules, given that you know about their existence and seem to have enough spare time. It is not at all helpful to mention threads/posts without linking to them, forcing a newcomer to (a) recognize that "Introductions" refers to a forum thread, (b) find that thread, (c) find the forum rules.

I would have locked this earlier, but I was camping. Do not create any more "random posts" threads. They inevitably result in rule violations (especially rule 1 violations) and are too difficult to moderate. Anything worth posting should fit in a more specific or restricted thread.
