One-time catalyst replacements

Post by Wyirm » October 31st, 2022, 9:54 pm

When building conduits or hasslers, one uses conduits to perturb an active region until it comes out as another useful region. However, it can be tedious to run through every single applicable catalyst to find the right one, or that there are none tha work. What you should be doing is placing destructable still lives that perturb active regions just like their full catalyst counterparts. For most circuitry, a block will suffice, using the grin reaction and its variants, snake catalysis, and eater 1 and 2 replacements:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 4, rule = B3/S23Super
2D$2D$4B$2.2B!
Tubs, boats, twits, beehive pushes, and loaf flips are easy enough to test for, but more complicated catalysts require more complicated replacements. For example, BTS is less commonly used, but still is important to test for. This is just one application, but the main question is whether or not single use catalysts exist for any reaction

Code: Select all

x = 36, y = 28, rule = TripleLife
17.G$17.3G$20.G$19.2G11$9.EF$8.FG.GD$8.DGAGF$10.DGD5$2.2G$3.G30.2G$3G
