Uses for Mu-Octomino?

Post by HerscheltheHerschel » September 4th, 2023, 5:31 am

So, I know the Herschel is extra famous, but there exist an underrated-yet-related-to-the-Herschel object.
I name it the mu-octomino (or just simply "mu"), and is a great-grandparent of the procastinator.
It has an extra cell compared to the more common Herschel.

Welcome! This is the procrastinator sequence, and it eventually becomes a single beehive:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
obo$obo$3o$o!
One can use [ code ] tags (the </> button) instead of attaching RLE files.

Sorry, I sometimes forget things. For example I forgot it was named procastinator. Thank you, I'll edit this thread.
Edit: I now again consider the mu different from the procastinator

Oh, wait.
The mu is not the procastinator, but a great-grandparent of it. Why is the pi not called a house?

Usually, terms referring to active regions like "pi-heptomino" or "R-pentomino" refer to their sequences, not that the shape at that one specific generation. For example, in P45 pi-heptomino hassler, the pi shape (3o$obo$obo!) never actually appears, but rather a different predecessor that converges with the pi-heptomino at the "house" generation. When used in hasslers, this "house" is usually just refered to as a "pi".

This octomino looks more like mu.

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
obo$3o$obo$o!
