I have reduced the cost of universal construction to seventeen gliders and probably to sixteen. All that remains is for the universal operations to be found.

I've typically seen people refer to that loaf catalysis as transparent... the block idea I'm not sure if it's better to refer to it that way or not. Anyway, I don't think it's consistent between uses whether or not that condition is part of the definition of transparent.

I don't think that that loaf reaction counts as transparent because the fact that the loaf returns to its initial state is specifically due to its initial structure, while a transparent object is consumed by the chaos then happens to be dropped back in the same position. Likewise, a block that engages in the standard block catalysis from opposite directions should not be considered transparent even if those two catalyses are combined in a slightly non-trivial manner.
