Trivial, but P28 is still the highest period that I've ever seen dr report.

Random p5 I found by just putting random parameters in ofind lol

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 6, rule = B3/S23

The first part of the reaction has a necessary information transmission speed of 7c/9 and should therefore be mentioned here.

I have reduced the cost of universal construction to seventeen gliders and probably to sixteen. All that remains is for the universal operations to be found.

This comes close to being a transparent block reaction.

My first transparent catalyst!
I made it into a conduit—albeit an unconnectable one.

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 30, rule = LifeHistory
2.2A$3.A$2.A$2.2A2.2A$5.A.A$4A.A$A2.A.2A4$10.2D$10.D$9.2D$8.2D$6.3C$8.

A3.2A$4.A$3.2A!
Also, I think that transparent objects technically have to lose all of their objects at once—or else a block performing the standard block catalysis from opposite sides and a loaf performing the following type of loaf catalysis would be considered transparent:

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 25, rule = B3/S23
8bobo$9b2o$9bo4$12b2o$11bo2bo$12b2o2$16bo$15bobo$15bo2bo$16b2o5$11bo2$
ob2o8b3o$bo3bo10bo$4bobo8bobo$4bo2bo7bo2bo$5b2o9b2o!
However, your reaction is still interesting. How did you find it?

I've typically seen people refer to that loaf catalysis as transparent... the block idea I'm not sure if it's better to refer to it that way or not. Anyway, I don't think it's consistent between uses whether or not that condition is part of the definition of transparent.

I don't think that that loaf reaction counts as transparent because the fact that the loaf returns to its initial state is specifically due to its initial structure, while a transparent object is consumed by the chaos then happens to be dropped back in the same position. Likewise, a block that engages in the standard block catalysis from opposite directions should not be considered transparent even if those two catalyses are combined in a slightly non-trivial manner.
