Doesn't improve anything (the source still life costs 10 gliders and the destination 8 ):

This spark is obviously impossible to place, so I'm putting it here. If it actually worked, and the gliders actually escaped, it would be a p50 gun; look at generation 25.
Code: Select all

Here is a seven-cell predecessor for an R-turner without its first blinker:

There are two more seven-cell predecessors that are closely related.

I wonder whether that's how the tub was first identified as a catalyst. I know that all pi-block collisions were searched fairly early on in the history of exploring ConwayLife.

An R-pentomino hitting a block in a certain way can serve as a preblock->claw component.
Code: Select all
x = 7, y = 11, rule = B3/S23

This is useless because a two-glider component that does the same thing is already known.

I don't know if it's on lifewiki but it probably doesn't meet the notability guideline
