Game of Life wicks by type

Post by Pooping_Alien » March 5th, 2014, 5:58 am

Hello.
There are 3 types of wicks (or so it seems):
Front-stabilized (Bell's Beetle)
Rear-stabilized (Faces, part of 114p6h1v0 AKA Face Stacker)
Unstable on both ends (Turtle Poop - Turtle-pulled asymmetric wick, needs a tiny stabilizer at the rear)
Ants, while practically "front-stabilized", could, due to extreme speed, be considered "unstable on both ends".
Wickstretchers are usually made for wicks whose "wick bit" is easily synthesized _and_ front-stabilized.
Faces and Ants are the two wicks that don't "lag", as all "faces" in the Faces wick are in same generation at any given moment.. Bell's Beetles and Turtle Poop do "lag". Bell's Beetle lags one generation per "wick piece" (individual "Bell's Beetle")!

** seriously, in one of the stages the repeatable part of 114p6h1v0 (initially discovered as a wick) is a face.
