Yeah, I don't entirely disagree, though it's a bit more marginal than it looks. I think it's useful enough to go here, because compared to this old pattern, this has a smaller bounding box and accepts a glider directly instead of having to convert it to a Herschel first, and I think this is the right thread for this kind of stuff too...

Somewhere sometime this new thing will probably come in handy for a staged-recovery cleanup, though. Maybe there's something in the Spaceship Eaters thread where you have an extra glider coming out, and you just want it to bounce the signal back as fast as possible and kill off some piece of junk so that the next spaceship can come in. A direct glider bounce like this is much faster than anything you can do with Snarks, let alone Herschel-based stuff.

A three-catalyst search with simple catalysts, such as a block and an integral or irroed dock (symmetrical variants of the eater 1), may find something--but it doesn't seem super likely to me.

I'm somewhat surprised that no direct conduits showed up. Maybe it's time to try again if enough years of Moore's law have passed.
One of my strengths seems to be thinking of creative ideas. I'm probably going to try creating conduits for objects that seem useful (so I can contribute useful conduits) but probably haven't been explored much (so I find conduits that aren't already known). For example, I found some convertors for R−B.

I think that the R−B shows more potential than the temporarily isolated patch that pops up in a Herschel that I used (in usefulness, number of converters and partials, and quality of converters/partials). Unrelated, but about those 17hd glider conduits, just use a highway robber, you only need a 1hd separation to pry apart gliders with a highway robber, instead of the 18hd separation needed for a Snark.
