Somewhat accessible Domino Spark->G:
Code: Select all
x = 21, y = 17, rule = B3/S23
2o15b2o$bo15bo$bobo6b2o3bobo$2b2o11b2o$9bo$8bobo$8bobo$9bo4$17b2o$17bo
bo$6b2o11bo$7bo11b2o$4b3o$4bo!
The lower right eater suppresses a pre-B that destroys the upper right; getting a signal out of it is proving tricky/impossible.
EDIT: Domino to beehive-and-blinker. I think aiming a glider at the blinker to make a PI might be able to generate that spark again with the right catalysts?
Code: Select all
x = 11, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

EDIT: Noticed now, a few days after I posted this, that the initial H-to-HF was posted
here a while back.
It showed up independently in a search I made, but I assumed that part was probably already known.
One thing I find interesting is that this H-to-G extends less to the east than any previously known H-to-G, including those that are just H-to-FNG.

An unexpected near miss, with the tightest space I've ever seen a Herschel fit into:

Is it possible to get this tub to become transparent?

Unfortunately, loafs/beehives/boats won't work here as they all produce different reactions...

An R-to-B that isn't listed in the Conduit Collection:
Code: Select all
x = 21, y = 15, rule = LifeHistory
5.C.C$2C2.C.2C$C3.C$.3C.3C$3.C.C2.C$7.2C5$7.E10.D$7.2E10.D$6.2E11.2D$

Seems like it should have shown up in someone else's Bellman search by now, but maybe it wasn't considered important?
Still, I found a nice use for it: this compact H-to-G21:
Code: Select all

This is pretty much just a curiosity nowadays -- might as well just use a syringe if you're stuck with non-Spartan catalysts anyway. But it might be useful to pair this G21 converter with other circuits that need two gliders for activation.

A new H-to-B. It can be followed by conduit 1, but nothing else that I can find, but as such it makes this new L162 H-to-H:
Code: Select all
x = 30, y = 45, rule = LifeHistory
10.3D$11.D$9.3D6$17.2A$17.A.A$19.A$19.2A6$20.C$9.2A8.C.C$9.2A9.2C2.2C

.C.2C$21.C.2C.C$21.C$20.2C!
Surprisingly, if the B is allowed to lay down its block, it becomes a period quadrupling H-to-H (by almost the same mechanism as the quadrupling H-to-G I posted
here a few days ago).
Because there is no room for the normal block-eater when used as a quadrupler, it needs to be followed by a dependent conduit, or with an H stopper, which creates this period quadrupling H-to-G9:
Code: Select all
x = 143, y = 63, rule = LifeHistory

Connecting to that B-to-B is good enough to make it useful, since the B-to-B connects to so many things including itself.
I was hoping for a non-power-of-two difference in timing between a glider and a B-to-B chain, but I guess a delay of four ticks per extra B-to-B pair is better than nothing:

I found a transparent reaction between a BG and a block - the block and the first eater to interact are the only two still lives required, but I added the others trying to get a conduit out of it. Can anyone else make something of this?
Code: Select all
x = 17, y = 14, rule = B3/S23

This is the best I could come up with:

It turns a BG into a glider, three blocks, a HF, and three(!) Herschels. There might be something that can be done to clean it up, but it would still have an immense repeat time.
P.S. Sorry about the nonstandard H-FNGs; I can never remember the beehive one.

somewhat:

I can't see a way to get rid of the middle block without reworking the whole thing, though.
Edit: removing the leftmost eating block turns it into a block-keeper. Could be useful if the debris can be taken care of.

What I think is a new H-to-pi:

3CB$13.2C4.4BC2B$14.C4.2B3C2B$11.3C6.6B$11.C8.7B$22.B.4B!
I don't think it connects to anything, though. I do think the boat+BTS catalysis is something to look in to further.

Interesting first catalysts!
A quick 2 catalyser search with the new Bellman version
I'm working on finds this new H-to-G too (SE30T14):
Edit: As noticed by Extrementhusiast in the next post, the lower catalyser pair can be replaced by a block. Updated pattern.

I don't, as it's equivalent to a block:
Code: Select all
x = 81, y = 23, rule = LifeHistory
74.2A$75.A$75.A.2A.A$74.2A.A.2A2$74.3A$74.A2.A$76.2A$22.2A$22.2A2$73.

53.D!
However, this discovery is not completely in vain, as that particular eating mechanism of the BTS could be used elsewhere.

chris_c's H-to-Pi from
here creates a new H-to-G (NW26T109) if the Pi is stopped short.
It is a lot smaller than previous H-to-G:s with that mod-8 timing. It would for example create a much smaller "d4" syringe rephasing
here.

Period-doubling pi-to-pi, which could possibly be made into an actual conduit:
Code: Select all
x = 27, y = 17, rule = LifeHistory
7.2D15.3D$7.2D17.D$24.3D2$9.3C$9.C.C$2.2A5.C.C$.A.A$.A$2A4$16.2A$16.A
$17.3A$19.A!
However, getting the pi there might get a bit tight.

It would take an outright miracle to squeeze a pi-generating spark between those two eaters -- I don't think I've seen anything within half a dozen cells of working along those lines. The
current elementary-conduits collection still has a
broken BR241Pi that looks much more hopeful than it is, and even as shown it wouldn't be good enough.
So presumably the input pi would have to be engineered -- three gliders, or junk/spark plus glider, are both technically possible I think, but expensive. Or a conduit would have to be found that throws an active reaction a long distance and then produces an edgy
backward pi.
Has anyone ever seen anything like that? Known pi conduits always seem to be pointed away from the action, but maybe only because that's what people have been looking for.
