Could you write a script that collides flippers in 2x2 until a wick-stretcher is created?

To Kiran,
I'm not that proficient in Python (yet) :( , but I'm sure someone else can.

Where should I post all my Python questions? Is there a thread out there where I can post?

I think you could post questions here in this thread, especially if the answers are moving you toward your goal of a script to produce arbitrary slow salvos from a "slow elbow".

Or if you want to start a new thread on the "Scripts" board, called "Golly Python script questions" or some such, that would be fine too. It might be good to have a thread that collects explanations for the various "gotchas" that turn up when people are trying to work with Golly patterns and layers and cell lists for the first time.

@Kiran:
It looks as if an early (non-Web-enabled) version of apgsearch could fairly easily be adapted to do what you're looking for. By "flipper" do you mean a 2x2 crawler -- xq8_2je4 in Catagolue? And by "wickstretcher" you mean specifically the most common one? Does the construction have to be clean with no leftover junk, and maybe with not too many flippers -- or is any wickstretcher recipe good enough?

yes

yes

no
and maybe with not too many flippers
The biggest problem is small enough envelope to use p60 rakes since my goal is a breeder.
If a period duplicating reaction is found high period rakes would solve the problem.

To dvgrn,
I'll put my Python questions on a new thread in Scripts because not all of my questions are pertaining to producing gliders from a slow salvo.
Thanks!
