I tried to figure out where a P6 catalyst could fit, here's the room for the stator. The blue cells represent places where no two blue cells two cells or less away from each other could be on:
Code: Select all
x = 43, y = 53, rule = LifeHistory

Note that this diagram does not care about input clearance, that depends on how you get the century in.

I think that the conduit would have to be proceeded by PF*39C, so you may want to keep that in mind when setting the search bounds.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

I can't find a copy of that conduit when searching.

Thanks, with this, here's an updated diagram, showing how the stator might be "welded" with the catalysts:
Don't forget
how one would get the pi in in the first place.
Also, in order for this to be useful, the output also must connect to something.
Edit: Also, there are alternatives to the boat that increase the possibilities for welds.
Code: Select all
x = 65, y = 29, rule = LifeHistory
7.D24.D24.D$7.2D23.2D23.2D$6.2D23.2D23.2D$6.D24.D24.D4$A24.A24.A$3A22.

A.A$3.2A22.A.A24.A$28.A22.3A$51.A!
However, it's also possible that the sparker will be small enough that no weld will be required.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

It would be a p138 Herschel loop if there is a suitable RF48H, or a small p6 duoplet sparker:

This is probably a sign that we should also work on finding pi-creating conduits with good clearance.
Edit: The block in the PF*39C conduit can be moved one cell to the left.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

On the H-to-backwards-R, why not just check the ECC for better I/O conduits? No need to default to BFx59H.
Each day is a hidden opportunity, a frozen waterfall that's waiting to be realised, and one that I'll probably be ignoring

I chose an active region that doesn't have a name, but this happened when a pi was hit by a unwanted spark.
How'd you find that transparent block?
If you remove the block, the block regenerates. When there
is a block, a spark eats it and then the conduit regenerates it.
This is a block keeper.
Code: Select all

I think that you did something similar with an E→H.
Also, speaking of unusual regions for conduits, do you have any ideas for good regions to try looking into?
I am tentatively considering myself back.

If you remove the block, the block regenerates. When there
is a block, a spark eats it and then the conduit regenerates it.
This is a block keeper.
Code: Select all
x = 13, y = 48, rule = B3/S23

Yes, that is.
Code: Select all
x = 36, y = 31, rule = B3/S23

I'm doing a by-hand catalyst search on this.
Code: Select all
x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S23

How'd you choose that region?

Sorry, couldn't restore the block.

The region is produced by adding a block catalyst to an E:
Code: Select all
x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3/S23

Ah, so it's E−B. I think that I at least found some partial conduits for E−B and E−H a while back that you might be able to complete.
Edit: Here's a near-miss way to turn it into a pi:
Code: Select all
x = 31, y = 14, rule = B3/S23

I am tentatively considering myself back.
