Paul Callahan suggested this morning that the left side of the Bandersnatch might be catalyzable to get a different glider out, or possibly an accessible B, R, Herschel, or some such.
I tried a couple of catgl runs. Only got this far, but catgl doesn't look for transparent blocks or beehives:

There were also G-to-TL and G-to-interchange options, but none of them made anything that seemed accessible enough to be interesting. The beehive+block constellation is actually a clean one-time turner, but it sends a glider right into the southern bank of catalysts, so definitely not useful. The spiky spark from the top G-to-beehive might be useful, but the Annoying Beehive would have to be disposed of somehow.
If anyone is interested in running catalyst/catgl searches along these lines, I can post the input files I used. The first run placed three catalysts -- 3-catalyst search with eater1, eater2,snake, block, tub-with-tail, tub, and boat -- and the second run placed another three catalysts, starting with the first two eater1s at the bottom.
Obviously there are a _lot_ more possible catalysts that could be tried, these days, and clearly it's not impossible that some combination of them would produce a clean signal output.
