How do I see potential BTS catalyses in advance? Currently, the only BTS catalysis that I know is when a BTS replaces a fishhook that fails because it interacted with a domino spark in its recovery position (e.g. when trying to eat a B-heptomino parent).
I try replacing a fishhook with a BTS every time it fails similarly or when it performs a successful catalysis, but the chaos comes back and destroys it soon afterwards, but I can't recall a time when it's ever worked (besides one (arguably two) example that shouldn't count because I was expecting the BTS to fail and which is useless for multiple reasons anyway). How do I get better with BTS placements?

I've found that the BTS is so versatile because it doesn't have a single iconic reaction--there are several evolutionary paths that a perturbed BTS can take to settle back into the original BTS configuration. Unfortunately, it's a catalyst better suited for automated programs than manual use.

My experience with that is to first recognize "table-type" catalyses and then try a catalyst of that family. The p42 was solved several years ago using a p6 sparker.
