Approximately three months ago, I finished building a universal computer-constructor in Life. It was recently announced on LifeNews:

You can also view the corresponding LifeWiki page:

I have created this forum thread so that you can discuss and/or ask questions about it.

What period is it based off of? (e.g. p30, p46, p104, etc.)

Good question. It's generally considered to be period 1, because it uses stable reflectors and Herschel conduits.

In order to program the computer, you simply need to alter the sequence of eaters extending to the north-west.

Ok, I see.
Do you have a script to turn 1s and 0s into the eater sequence?

No, I don't, but it shouldn't be too difficult to make one.
