Most mechanisms that produce a crochet would interact with the eater earlier, so one would need a mechanism that would edge-shoot the front edge immediately; this is likely to be somewhat expensive. Since this conversion can already be done with two gliders in several different ways, the crotchet method is not likely to be useful in most cases.
