Thread for your conduits with active objects uncommonly used in conduits

Post by MathAndCode » October 25th, 2020, 10:10 pm

The conduit threads are getting cluttered, so I figured that making a new one would help.

EDIT by dvgrn Related links: To start things off, is a way to turn a psuedo-dove methuselah into a B-heptaplet:

Code: Select all

Here's a partial I→Q, preceded by a ∏→I.

Code: Select all

x = 40, y = 56, rule = LifeHistory
11.A$10.A.A$11.A$19.D$9.5A4.3D$8.A4.A3.5D$7.A2.A5.2D3.2D$4.A2.A.2A$3.

$5.A6.2A15.8B$4.2A24.7B!
#C [[ T 230 PAUSE 0.5 ]]
Cleanup looks difficult but not impossible.

Edit: While I was search for more I-accepting conduits, I saw an active region that makes two loaves at least twice. Here is one of the instances.

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
8bo$8b3o$10b2o$11bo2$2o$2o6$17b2o$17b2o!
I decided to investigate it, and I found that there is a simple way to turn it into a ∏.

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 10, rule = B3/S23
o$3o$3bo$2b2o3$5b3o$5bo$6bo$7b2o!
I didn't find any other conduits accepting it, but I did find this.

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 9, rule = B3/S23
2o$bo4b2o$bobo2b2o$2b2o2$5b3o$5bo$6bo$7b2o!
This suggests a way to turn a LoM into a B-heptomino. A similar method results in a ∏-heptomino.

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 18, rule = B3/S23
2bo$obo$4bo$2bo$2bo6$4bo$3b3o$2b2o2bo$2bo3bo$2bobo2$3b2ob2o$5bo!
A stable conduit based off of this seems possible.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

There is in fact a stable conduit that converts a LOM into a B (the left eater simply eats a beehive that gets left behind):

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 17, rule = B3/S23

Yes, but my partial conduit has a different relative position and timing.

This thread features a lot of such patterns.

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 21, rule = LifeColorful
11.E$10.3E$10.E.2E$13.E4$2.2B$.2B$2B$.2B15.2D$19.2D$18.2D$17.2D4$7.C$

I have reduced the glider cost of quadratic growth to eight and probably to seven. Looking for conduits...

I found a conduit which produces an r-pentomino from an object I don't recognize. Does this wing-like object have a name?

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 14, rule = B3/S23
o$o$bo5b2o$2bo4b2o$b2o2$8b2o$8bo$9b3o$11bo$3b2o$3bo$4b3o$6bo!
And also are there any other conduits which use this block and eater combination?

The object has no name, but it's fairly common. (I don't have an exact frequency, since it doesn't get large enough to be included here.)

It doesn't have a name that I know of. I think of it as the traffic light predecessor in the bumper.

Yes. Examples include HFx119H, HBx106H, PR*9B, and HNW18T106. It's also mentioned in Tutorials/Catalyses#Block_replacements.

The Z-hexomino isn't that common in asymmetrical patterns (about 1 Z-hexomino for every 66 LOM), but this Z → LWSS was too good to pass up:

Code: Select all

Off-phase LOM (aka object hassled in Karel's p177) → R with just a simple tub:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
b2o$ob2o$obo$2o2$3bo$2bobo$3bo!
Same object → pi + glider

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 7, rule = B3/S23
11b2o$10bob2o$10bobo$2b2o6b2o$bobo$bo$2o!
The only other thing of interest I found was a dirty paperclip near the end, although I didn't check non-rock tub catalyses.

I looked for "R-turner" catalyses using a single catalyst and stopped when it reached the R-pentomino. I found five things:

B

Huge spark (I've never seen this particular one before)

3.3B$.2A4B$ABA.2B$A5B$2A2BA$2.ABA$2.3A2$4.A$3.A.A$4.A!
Pi (the block simply eats a beehive and isn't strictly necessary)

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 13, rule = LifeHistory
11.3A$10.A6B$9.A8B$8.A6BAB$8.A3BA3BA$8.A3B2A2BA$3.A.2A2.A5B3A$.3A.2A
3.A2BABAB$A11.2A2B4.2A$.3A.2A13.2A$3.A.A$3.A.A$4.A!
What I'm particularly looking for is either itself (meaning it can become a shuttle if it's in the correct orientation) or an XWSS (like the one known for the Z-hexomino).

BtRx9B:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
b3o4b2o$o2bo4b2o$2bo$2bo!
It's connectable with BFx59H, but doing so will ruin it's clearance.

EDIT:
Variant with higher input clearance:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 4, rule = B3/S23
b3o$o2bo4b2o$2bo5b2o$2bo!
Connected to BFx59H:

Code: Select all

x = 27, y = 39, rule = B3/S23

EDIT: changed to 7-cell canonical form.

EDIT 2:

Conduits with B-turner inputs definitely don't belong in the Elementary Conduits thread, until somebody can come up with an X-to-B-turner converter or two that can connect to those conduits.

The above post was reported, so I've moved it to a more appropriate thread.
