I'm certainly no expert on conduits, but it appears that the block getting destroyed is part of the sequence responsible for restoring the TL, it may need to be restored later, and I don't know of any block restoring catalysts out there. there may be a bellman catalyst to replace the block for something permanent but again, I'm no expert on conduits

It would sure be nice to come up with a workable X-to-LWSS. But it just doesn't seem like enough thought is being put into where these U-turners are supposed to be coming from. If we had a workable X-to-U-turner conduit that searches could start from, then U-to-something conduits (that connected to something that produces Us) would start to look a lot more plausable.

Drat, that's almost an improvement on what we have available, oddly enough -- it's weird that reasonably small fast X-to-LWSS conduits have been so elusive for so long. Three non-synchronized unidirectional gliders isn't terribly expensive as an input, though two would be a lot better:
