Could this reaction be useful in syntheses where an edgeshot fishhook is needed?

Code: Select all

x = 31, y = 18, rule = B3/S23

Drop-in replacement for NW31

The conduit is listed as HLx86R, and probably more useful as a H-to-G than a H-to-R, but a block is missing in my copy of elem-conduits-6-6-20.

It can reduce the width or height of several glider guns by 1 cell (2 cells in composite guns like p37).

Similarly for p37, p39, p41, p43, p54, p58, p61, and probably others.

It can also be used as an edge-shooter where the "classic" NW31 will fail because of its spark:

Probably because it's a pretty simple converter (just three eaters, one is trivial) and you discovered this by hand I'm assuming.

Also you can make your text small with BBCode.

Welcome to the forums! Your discoveries aren't on the wiki because they aren't notable. What you found is a fuse, and even though it's clean (doesn't leave any debris), it's uninteresting. Fuses and methuselahs are generally boring. Also, in the future, please use code (<>) tags instead of viewer ones. The latter is usually only used for something really interesting or novel. The forum rules give more precise guidelines for notability.

Do we have a collection for these things? (glider vs xWSS turner/splitter)

Dunno, but that's a workable ortho c/2 signal carrier... Just add a G2MWSS ( catalyzed by the "carrier" MWSS ) and some retrieval mechanism. Here are some quick "partials":

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 101, rule = LifeHistory

The search space for these reaction is quite large, I wonder if anyone did look into it more systematically:

My recollection is that people tend to do specific gencols searches to find what they need for a particular project. But I can't think of any particular place to look for a fully assembled library of reactions along these lines.

Sometimes you want a sideways *WSS to come out; sometimes you're limited to just two or maybe three upward *WSSes; sometimes you want the *WSSes to survive unharmed, and sometimes you want them to be cleanly destroyed; sometimes you want the upward *WSSes to push some kind of slide-gun object; sometimes HWSSes are extra expensive and sometimes they're just fine; sometimes there's one incoming glider, and sometimes there can be several. Each situation would need a different collection of relevant Good Stuff.

The reaction bit that dies off goes out too far for anything to clean up the blinkers anyway
