block and glider cleanly burns through blinkers
It wasn't in Blinker fuse (although I just mentioned it there), and jslife's fuses folder doesn't have any file titled d-0454545.lif, so it's probably new. That's a nice find.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Those are also nice, especially the first one. I was surprised that you managed to condense the entire mess back down into the small bottleneck—as well as a glider, using only one glider; reactions like that are unlikely/rare.

I found that first one a couple of years ago:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2036&p=61751#p61751

It would be interesting if someone could stabilize it. There was some discussion a while ago on Discord about possibly using caterloopillars, but it wasn't constructed.
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

Your p1380 is still a very interesting crystal-based construction, though! With a longer crystallization track, and maybe a few quadri-Snarks on the output packed into the unused corner, and maybe a different period for the base gun, it should be possible to invent compact guns with very high periods that might be very hard to beat with any other mechanism.

I'd originally thought of the potential for compact gun building when I demonstrated the universality of this family of p2 pulse dividers, but at the time I thought it wouldn't be possible to get gun periods lower than 1000 without them getting bulky, and so I thought it wouldn't affect the normal gun collection much if at all. It's nice to see that at the very least I was almost wrong about that. That said, I imagine the most efficient thing for getting super high multipliers in small bounding boxes would probably be a combination of Tremi- or Quadri-snarks along with the p2 "n-snarks" (n >= 15) chained together in a tight space, at least until you get big enough to afford more complex systems with faster period scaling.

On a side note, n-snark is kinda ugly, maybe we can call them crystal snarks or something instead? I guess they're still a bit big and slow compared to the snark so maybe that term isn't the best, but the smallest ones can still get some very impressive multipliers for their size. I'm open to suggestions on that front if anybody has any good ones.

Yeah, the main meaning of "Snark" is "90-degree reflector", and when you add "semi", "tremi", etc. it adds the meaning "half", "third", etc. So "n-Snark" should really be "1/n-Snark", which is even more awkwardnessful.

Anway the main point of these devices is more the period multiplication than the angle of reflection, so maybe we should just say "crystal period multipliers"? It's longer, but it seems much clearer.

A B-heptalet predecessor can be hassled with period four.

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 25, rule = B3/S23
9b2o$8bo2bo$8bobo2bo$9bo$10b2obo$12bo2$8bo$6b3o$8bo$8bo$6b2o2$5bo$5bo

It's in jslife — osc/o0004.lif, right side, top row, second from left.

Yes, I see it now. That's what I get for not knowing how to navigate jslife and giving up so quickly.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

Tubs work too:
I checked whether or not that turns a loaf into a loop, and I got something close.

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 9, rule = B3/S23
4b2o$3bo2bo$4bobo$bo3bo3bo$obo5bobo$bo7bo2$4b3o$5bo!
I then tested it with the beehive version and got a snorkel loop.

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 9, rule = B3/S23

EDIT by dvgrn: Label your posted patterns, please? Pretty please, with flying spaghetti monsters on top? Just a few words can be hugely helpful, compared to zero words.

Is your point that it's a conduit or that it makes an integral?

Edit: Speaking of U-turner-accepting conduits, here's a century output with good output clearance:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 6, rule = B3/S23
2o$bo$bobo8b3o$2b2o8b3o$11bobo$11b2o!

Another edit: I also got a B output and a glider output.

Code: Select all

x = 77, y = 20, rule = B3/S23
2o54b2o$bo55bo$bobo8b3o42bobo8b3o$2b2o8b3o43b2o8b3o$11bobo53bobo$11b2o

9bo!

Yet another edit: I got another B output.

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 11, rule = B3/S23
6b3o$6b3o$5bobo$5b2o4$2b2o$3bo$3o$o!

Fourth edit: Here's yet another B output:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
b3o$b3o$obo$2o6$6bo$5bobo$6b2o!
A ship-fishhook combination can suppress the block, resulting in a Herschel output.

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 19, rule = B3/S23
8b3o$8b3o$7bobo$7b2o6$13bo$12bobo$b2o10b2o$obo$2o2$3b2o$3bo$4b3o$6bo!

I got a different glider working on it before

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 24, rule = LifeHistory

I found that active region here:
